Thanks, yeah I knew about the Friedman speculation but he has been all over the place regarding Mika lately.

I guess we will find out.
IIRC it was also reported by Kypreos later, that while Mika had not been asked to waive (which tells you the negotiations fell down pretty early on), his camp had made it clear to the Ranges that he's not willing to waive to go to the West coast.

I’m not sure it’ll be a popular opinion (mostly because of depth issues), but I think Mika needs to be transitioned to wing like Stamkos was.

His game’s always felt weird for a center to me.
speculation this goes back to when we had Nieves
if we had a good enuf guy who could 'carry the mail' and distribute, that would have been enuf as a facilitator w/Kreider as a driver of play and zib as a scorer

but dat wuz den an dis is now

Not doubting you but when and where did you read Mika turned down a trade request? I would like to read it for myself.
fair ask, I don't keep detailed track of stuff beyond the current moment
think there was something on Yardbarker, which is sometimes them but can be a redirect from like The Hockey Writers, etc

are we feeling like the Rangers are gonna be buyers? Maybe even the 1st for a rental?

if true, a slightly scary add for them.
pls God no
haven't we done the same stupidity often enough to learn?

I like Pettersson quite a bit and think he'd do well with Fox. I'd prefer to keep the 1st. I like Garand but let's be real, Shesty is here for the long haul and while Garand may be a good backup, this is pretty good value for him. Goalie prospects are not typically moved because either the team that has them needs them, or there is just a very selective market for a position that is hardly ever drafted/invested in early.
Once Garand gets a full season under his belt either starter or backup, then, if you decide to move surplus for a need, is when you get max return
adding him to something now w/such min NHL exposure is counterproductive

I mean credible sources. No name bloggers dreaming up Bern like fantasy trades does not count. Didnt Larry debunk the notion that Mika ever was apart of a trade to Vancouver?
dream on
dream on
dream until your dreams come true

Freidman had this.
bottom line here is there was interest, we think, and suddenly there wasn't
peeps insisting 1:1 deal while Mika was worst of us in beyond horrible state did not help

have to believe Mika signaled no deal Howie/banker

If Mika had actually turned down a trade don't you think it would be all over this site with links and articles? Wouldn't our beat writers speak about it often?

Vancouver isnt a seller, they have been forced into this situation. So why would they want to load up on youth when they have a legit shot at the wild card? Im pretty sure its been rumored that the Nucks wanted roster players in any trade.
Their owner is revenue focused like a bloodhound. There is reason a player like Lindgren was linked to the first big trade rumor with names (and maybe only real one). Aquilini, their owner, stepped into that first trade to stop it. Retention seems the likely point why he stopped it because he didn't want to pay for nothing in future years and hamstring future chances of making the playoffs for the sweet first round revenue.

We should be the third team picking up some of the money for a draft pick
Don't we have over 10 million in cap space?

Blackhawks tanking again.

Let’s see what the deal is first. It may not be a cap absorption from Vegas. Maybes it’s a contract or maybe they’re getting a prospect because Chicago wants the pick or another prospect

I feel, personally, that these boards - which are handily more knowledgeable than your average fan - are still so short sighted. Three weeks ago it was tear it to the studs and now we’re basically playing .550 hockey and it’s back to “we can win it all!”?

No flaws have been fixed. No player combinations have been solved. Mika may be playing better, but he hasn’t become a #1. Kreider still sucks. The D pairs aren’t worst in the league bad anymore but this isn’t an elite D by any means. Nothing has changed. They were playing unsustainably bad hockey. Now they’re playing much better. They’re still a markedly mediocre team that has no chance of winning the Cup. Large changes are still needed. I find zero validity in the opinions of anyone who feels differently. Every thing about this group is overwhelmingly flawed and mediocre.
