Might as well pre-order your Malcolm Spence jerseys.

I have no idea who this is yet because I haven’t had time to look at this draft.

But if it’s a two-way, left handed LW with maybe a bit of size that screams Calgary pick baby.

Might as well start stitching the name on jerseys now.

I haven't had the chance to watch him play yet but here's some of the scouting reports on him:

Hannah Stuart - Bleacher Report - July 9th: "He has an inviting combination of physicality and scoring talent; he's very effective offensively and thinks the game at top speeds, even though he isn't the more creative, dynamic forward type."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - July 3rd: "He gets in the way of just about everyone, has some of the best chirps in the class and then will make you pay with a nice goal. As one of the older players in this draft class, Spence had a 62-point sophomore campaign this season while donning an “A” with Erie."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 29th: "A big winger who has some jam to him, Spence is an aggressive player who can be physical and still score. He doesn’t have dynamic skill, but he is effective with the puck on his stick."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 18th: "He plays the game with intention, sticks with plays, and has decent though not dynamic skill. He plays with pace on and off the puck, keeps his feet moving, gets up and under sticks to win back possession, and is by all accounts an awesome kid."

He's currently projected anywhere from 8-16 with most of the projections in the 8-11 range.

It is unfortunate we have this pick tied up with Montreal; that and we're not a little closer to the bottom of the standings. Sitting on those Florida and NJD picks would go a long way here in making sure we get the guy the team really wants.

Seems like a year you end up not winning the lotto and consolation prize end up drafting someone really solid with a top 5 pick.

Like Michael Misa, is projected to go 3rd overall here and would be far and away Calgary's best prospect.

This is the draft to pick in the top 3-4. Very underwhelming draft after that, especially once you hit the mid 1st. Saving grace for this draft is the fact that good scouting will be paramount. After about pick ~16-20, the next 20-30 names haven’t done that much much to separate themselves. Teams with good scouts are going to get some steals where they get guys their scouts rated high in the late 1st/early 2nd.

My dream is to use our mass amount of picks to move up slightly to grab Ryabkin after the massive fall he’s having. Plenty of risk associated to him, but if he rights his ship that’s an amazing offensive centre we could grab in the mid to late teens.

So, we take Henry Brzustewicz in teh 2nd round right?
Sure why not. (oh, 'merican)

Conroy's been thinking "we need a RHS centre" all season. Will have the mantra "we have to draft local kids" in the back of his mind. He will have seen Kindel a number of times this season - in person no doubt. (assuming Kindel plays centre wtf do I know lol)

I was just thinking it'd be funny to have 2 defensemen with the name H. Brzustewicz.

Wasn't there another bro combo like this many years ago?

One got the normal name bar while the other got an initial added to his name bar?

Edit: I might be thinking of Forward hamilton and defense hamilton.

On Bob Mckenzie's latest rankings I see guys like Ryabkin (19th), Cootes (22nd), Nesbitt (23rd), Kindell (25th), Reschny (29th), and Moore (35th) who are all having good seasons as centers and I see a real good opportunity to add some strong talent at a position we are really lacking in.

I think we will do just fine. Our scouts have really shown there worth recently.

Might have been. I was kinda hoping for a Sutter-like situation... when Rich and Ron were teammates in ether Philly or St. Louis, they had Ri. Sutter and Ro. Sutter on their jerseys.
