If it's an ACL tear, and everything is indicating that, it's 8-9 months. Some have come back in 6 months, but I think it's reasonable to assume that if it's an ACL tear, he's out 6-9 months.
Basically, if it's what we think it is, we might not see him again until 2024.

Current season is ruined and next season is already looking to be a STRUGGLE early on. We will have to be aggressive this summer if we want to feel good in the Metro going into next year.

lol we're the 2nd best team in hockey right now despite Svech being extremely cold for a stretch and guys like Aho, Turbo, Slavin, etc. missing time. The Bruins this year were missing Marchand, McAvoy to start the year and everyone thought they'd suck and they proceeded to have one of the best starts to a regular season ever, especially at home.

I think we should be aggressively looking to improve in general but if we go into next year with mostly the same group counting on Svech and Patches to return at some point to give us a boost I'm still confident we'll continue to be very good. I'd be shocked if we truly "struggle" at any point in the next few years.

I think 2024 is realistic although the range of 6-12 months seems to be the consensus. A 2017 NHL.com story on Robby Fabbri:

He didn't get back to productive hockey for 2 years though:

I'll be surprised if they don't do that. They reportedly went hard after both Tkachuk and Meier this year. Next off season I see them aggressively looking to add another high end center. Any chance at Petterson? Lindholm? PLD? Someone else not on the radar?
Any of those three would be nice, but more so EP and PLD. Lindholm would probably be the next Trocheck with not getting re-signed by us; so he'd be a 1 year rental.

I doubt we get any of them, but most of all EP obviously.

This is an opportunity to further cement with the Borg that this team needs more depth to the scoring. The guys we have left don’t like to shoot very much, and don’t beat goalies with regularity from any distance. We are likely to create chances still just fine, but with one less guy who might actually shoot to score.

I think it’s a great feel good story that Patches may come back to us but we need something more for sure than that.

What's our buddy Gunler up to these days?

RBA: Stand in the dot and all these pass happy mofos will get you the puck.

Looks like Pomo has passed Drury this year as a prospect potentially? That's a big oof.

Terrible news, but next man up. It's not like Svech has been scoring a lot of goals recently or in the previous playoffs.

The problem is that in order for us to take that next step we needed Svech to step up. Now, we don't even get the contributions that he DID give us.

We are unquestionably worse this year than last going into the playoffs. Not great.

Yes, I'm just trying to be optimistic. Maybe one of our Chicago guys or Poolparty is able to step up and contribute in a meaningful way.

It truly highlights the lack of scoring depth.

After Patches, we were just one top 6 injury away from looking weak compared to the other cup contending teams in the playoffs. Even with Svech, we really could've used a Meier, Horvat, or Nino even; if only we had gotten out of the Meier talks sooner and gotten Nino back and especially since he's on pace to break his career season high of 25 goals (he's at 21 now). Nino's physicality helps too, and having Poolparty AND Nino really would've forced Carolina to not resign Faust this summer IMO.

Going into next season with Svech and Patches both being injured forces Carolina to HAVE to make a move to upgrade our top 6 in the summer for a guy that scores about 20+ goals. The silver lining for next season (there isn't any for this season) is we still have this year's 1st round pick to trade in a package.

Poor Svech. Plays almost a whole season and gets injured long term shortly before the playoffs even start. I feel bad for him. This team's luck this season with injuries has been truly f***ing brutal.

Not sure if you're legit asking that, or making some sort of joke?

He wouldn't be my preference compared to a couple of other players, but he's better than nothing depending on the price.
