ANA 3 : LAK 2 - Regular season champs we ain't

Vinny and Schenn have both been good pickups (especially Vinny), but we haven't had those winning streaks like we used to before them, not sure if those things are mutually exclusive or not.

Look at the production of Carter and Toffoli. They're a couple of big reasons why the offense sucks right now.

We still do have a good defense. That is why this team is leading the league in GA/G.
It isn't as solid as in the two cup runs but it's not some awful thing either.

We had top notch 1-6 defense (1-7 defense in 2014). Right now it's a 3 defensman babysitting the defense while Kopitar, Carter and Shore (lol I know) play stingy good defensive game. Kopitar might win the Selke this year despite being on a Pacific ocean team.

Definitely, just wondering if that trade messed up the team chemistry or something. Toffoli and Carter need to start scoring soon or we're completely ****ed.

We actually won the Cup with a sup top 10 PK in 2014. Granted it was number 11.

Meh PK can be prepared for with good scouting. That's something I am less worried about. ES hockey production outside of Kopitar, Doughty and somewhat Carter is inconsistant.

Pearson has looked really good the last couple of weeks (ok other then the penalty he took). That's nice to see.
Lucic had his best game in about two months (he actually showed up and worked hard).

Does Toffoli still play hockey?

Seemed like there was no desperation in that last 60-90 seconds.

I can see the Kings slipping to 3rd at this point. There's essentially no way they can miss the playoffs. Now the Ducks have finally passed them after watching them get closer every day for the last 2 months. They have a not easy schedule coming up, while they can't score. They've had to beat Nashville in 3v3 OT twice, and the Preds are a good CF% team. They've struggled against the Ducks. Back and forth against SJ. What's the difference between those 3 teams?

No Gaborik. Carter and Toffoli have 4 combined goals in the last 20 games, and both have one each where they weren't even shooting the puck. Few and far between for Lucic. Brown is Brown. Lecavalier's not all that close to scoring. Pearson isn't going to carry a line. Unless something in there changes, they'll probably squeak out a win every other game on average. 2 goals just cuts it too close.

Just have to wait until the playoffs and see what happens.

I am by no means a big Versteeg fan (he is a better player then Brown/Lewis when healthy) but your post is a joke.
He hasn't lit the world on fire but he just fought a guy 3 inches taller then him...

are probably done around the league. Problem is, DS prefers players he has a history
with, or was fond of their play, etc.

Ehrhoff - DS said, "I think of Ehrhoff when he was quarterbacking the PP for the
Canucks. He was a standout"...he probably looked over the list and preferred him because of that.
Ehrhoff was not the same player, the last 2 years, as he was then. I liked Ehrhoff then too!

Scuderi - DS - "he commands a lot of respect in the room" "I know what to expect from him" Great! The room IS very important. Playing at the level Scuderi did in 2012,
and now 36 years old, is 75% the player Rob was then.

What about him NOT playing a Kings style game and his being scratched and benched the last 2 playoffs in Chicago? 2 goals in last 27 playoff games?

DS should not get the final say in players being acquired!! He's too closed minded
for the unfamiliarity and not having connections of some kind.

No, DL, RB, Futa and pro scouts should. You get the best players to play for your team, not the players the coach thinks would be the best players
for him.
