Glad it's not just me seeing that.

Honestly our biggest issue this stretch has literally been puck luck.

When all our playing metrics go up including high danger scoring chances while all our defensive metrics tighten but we're scoring less and losing, and the eye test tells us the same thing, I'm thinking things will turn around.

Still slightly higher on the offensive rankings then the past couple years. The Luck seems about normal.

Also Ducks closing in the Kings in Goals scored. They may actually pass the Kings by the end of the year. Which would be really impressive with how they started.

I was kinda joking about the Sutter screwing Brown up, but I do have a sneaking suspicion on the subject. Sutter seems to be a fan of the Dwight King style of play. Stay in position, don't chase hits, don't react emotionally. The game that made Brown successful was lurking around out of position trying to nail top 6 guys with their heads down. Then reacting instinctually to the chaos that ensued. Getting involved emotionally was a big part of Brown's game. Now you can see him trying to think about what to do when he's playing.... like when he's making a pass. He sits there and thinks about it... Brown isn't playing his game any more and it's not working.

Has there even been 1 "Brown's dirty" thread on HF this year? This is the problem. I'm not saying play dirty, but if people aren't over reacting on the main boards about Brown laying guys out, there's a problem.

Him getting suspended probably has a lot to do with the bolded as well, unfortunately.

Our Puck luck sucks, and if Carter AND Toff aren't scoring, we aren't winning crap. This will turn around. We played a really strong game on Saturday.

agreed. the Kings mostly win those types of games, Ducks just got the bounces on Saturday. Im not unhappy with how the game played out but I do wish that the Kings could capitalize on their chances. their goalie did happen to have a fantastic game so gotta give him credit

Maybe it is coincidence, but that really does seem to be the line of demarcation. He had a really good 2013 regular season. Ever since that suspension against Minnesota for the elbow at the end of 2013, it's been downhill. Maybe he was hurt in the 2013 playoffs, maybe age was going to catch up to him now no matter what, maybe Sutter does ask him to be safer, maybe this, maybe that, who knows, but one way or another, he's been a different player since.

Forgot about that. It wasn't really dirty. Squared up to the guy nicely and drove up and through him. Solid tackle.

Oh, you didn't ask for dirty plays, you asked for THREADS! You call it a square up, others called it a premeditated flying headbutt intent to injure.

He's also been peripherally involved in every Lucic thread.

It isn't because of the Pominville suspension.

I believe the Hertl, Schwartz and Ryan Murray hits have all happened since then. Same goes for that open-ice beauty on Perry last season.

He's older and has a lot of wear and tear. I think he sandbags it on the hitting side of the game until the games are bigger. Thought he turned up the physicality during the stretch run last season and expect the same this year and in the playoffs.

His game is trash if he isn't hitting though. Less hitting also leads to fewer penalties drawn.

Brown pretty much admitted as such a couple years ago. Said pretty much exactly what you said.

It's not so much the thought, it's the attitude about wanting to be right about failure.

"Told you guys we suck" is a pretty miserable thing to hang your hat on.

It's really common around here. It's one of the things that drives me crazy about this place.

There were a couple of posters here (forget the names) who were relentlessly negative about the team, Lombardi, everything pre-2012 playoffs. After the Kings won the Cup, they basically never posted again. Pretty sad.

I remember signing up here in Feb of 2012 because of all the naysayers, I had to post and bring some positivity/reason after all the negative **** I was reading . shoot, even some of my best friends (die hard Kings fans, mind you) had mailed it in 2 months before the playoffs even started that year. NOTHING pisses me off more than pouty fans. its even worse when people join together and wallow in self-pity/misery/whatever you wanna call it.

The poster said ANA and SJ will pass LA in the standings but also said to use the post to haunt him.

He doesn't want to be right, just like Herby, myself and others didn't want to be right about Richards and how I hope I'm wrong about Versteeg.

This place would be horrific without some negativity.

As someone who has been message-boarding about the Kings since 1998, it was pretty hard to be nothing but sunshine and lollipops until a few years ago. Kudos to those that only see the upside, but there should be no problem with a negative opinion and one shouldn't be accused of hoping bad things happen just because they say they will.

Like I'd be upset that Versteeg went '14 Gaborik because I said he was trash online. C'mon now.

Think I'm depressed because the Kings are so close, but they're just playing like ****, despite playing well? Can't score goals. They have offensive depth, but Gaborik is out, Pearson isn't fully back yet. Brown and Lewis are a joke when it comes to putting the puck in the net. Kings need someone to step up... Just not seeing it.

Not talking about posts in isolation. Talking about patterns.

We're hardly sunshine and rainbows around here.

Fair enough, but I don't think any of the "negative" posters want to be right; however, when correct, they are going to say "told ya so" which is one of the inalienable rights of posting on a message board.

Doesn't mean that anyone here predicting a first round exit is rooting for it to happen. I said they were done after Game 6 WCF in '14. I'm still not upset for looking foolish on that one and am very glad I wasn't proven "right".

I'm just not a proponent of the mindset that you aren't a good fan or something if you have negative opinions. Herby or--back in the day--PSP don't watch every game so they can come to HF and knock guys but rather because they are big fans of the Kings.

Not singling you out or accusing you of this, just stating it in generalities because its really common around here and is one of the things that drives me crazy about this place, to quote Quattro.
