I’ve watched a lot of games this year and I really think it’s the pucks because it’s happening everywhere. The tracking technology in the pucks and stuff is messing with the pucks. No way it’s 31 rinks.

They stopped using the pucks...msg ice sucks

One more high pick. That's all. Fire Quinn in the off season, draft a stud C, and go into next season with a veteran coach.
That sounds right: a core of three top-tier skaters and one hot goalie:
Malkin, Crosby, Letang, Flower
Kane, Toews, Keith, Niemi/Crawford
Kopitar, Brown, Doughty, Quick

I’ve been noticing this big time and it’s the only thing that concerns me with him. And it’s only concerning because this was a big time strength of his coming out of juniors.

I can understand if he’s a bit timid but his value proposition is skill/IQ combined with high compete. His physical gifts aren’t good enough for him to get away with floating.

This can also be a product of overthinking when the game is too fast for your brain to process. See, Chris Kreider. I have 100% full confidence this will improve for Lafreniere as he adjusts and matured over time, but it will be a process.

An elite grinder who currently is not grinding 100%.

this will be the case for every team we face. We have the worst coach in the division. It’s not close. And it will not get better until we make a change.
It’s painfully obvious too. Like tonight you woulda thought Blackwell was some established top 6 guy by the way Quinn just juggles the lines after he goes down

Dude is an AHL player and we’re throwing the lines in a blender every 5 minutes

I don't want to see a big blockbuster trade to try to "fix" this thing for this year, and Chytil's supposed to be out for just a month or so, but man, Laf and Kakko need some center play to help them out. Invisible game from both of them tonight. Zibanejad is having an awful season (and maybe we'll look at this thing and COVID five years from now and wonder why he was even out there), Strome is Mr. League Average, and Howden is worse. He looks okay as a grinding player now but whenever they put him with the skill guys, he never does anything.

I wouldn't hate Sam Bennett, really just buying low and crossing your fingers that he can finally do something, but that's already half of our roster! The team has the mentality of guys who were really cool in high school/college.
I was hopeful of Howden, but while he's definitely stronger on the puck, it hasn't translated into a lot.

the problem with drafting a legit c prospect now, as we've seen with Chytil, Kakko, Laf, is that it doesn't really help for around 3 years. So even if we can nab a high-end draftee they likely won't make an impact until Panarin is very much on the downturn, Mika may be gone and the three mentioned earlier are all off their ELCs and taking up a large part of the cap.
I don't know what the answer (or the plan) is, but I'm not sure the Rangers front office or coaching staff can wait to develop a prospect that isn't even in the system yet
Well I meant if we end up with a high pick again and get a top one who will come in quick but yeah I get where you’re coming from

Fair. I don’t see Quinn as the coach to bring this team to the next level though. He’s nothing more than a placeholder to bring the kids along, IMO.

He will be replaced next year in-season, IMO.

Rangers lose a few more and he'll be replaced in a few weeks.

Both Calgary and The Rangers seem painfully aware that they need to shake things up when it comes to team makeup. But thus far Calgary has been far more reluctant to pull the trigger. We’ll see if larger talks result in a smaller move, with the possibility of a bigger follow-up move down the line.
Calgary still got any interest in Tony after this rough start? Haha

Growing up watching the Panthers from 2000 through 2007 is enough to make this rough patch like a minute.
Yeah but the Panthers are small time and always will be. This is NY, this shit needs to start working soon. I'll gladly take a high pick, and even in my pre-season prediction I didn't have us making the playoffs, at this point with this slow start our chances of making playoffs are slim anyway, but things gotta start to fall into place.

Beniers/Power for us but dammit I can't even enjoy the losing like I had the past couple of years.

I will be besides myself if we draft Beniers, he really isn't that good and is just being propped up because he is the last of the Hughes/Zegras/Turcotte group from the NTDP and this is just a poor draft class altogether.

This team sucked more with Lundqvist last year than with the kids so can we please kill these other narratives?

Four blown 3rd period leads in three weeks. That’s all on Quinn. I like the progress the non-goalie kids are making under him but his days are numbered. That is unless Dolan no longer cares with no fans allowed and doesnt want to pay Quinn the remaining $5+ mil left on his deal.

But Gorton should be next. Wasn’t a JD hire and looking like four straight years without the playoffs. Neil Smith was fired after 3 and he had their only Cup in 944 years.
