Since we know they’ve talked quite a bit with Calgary and Bennet has now officially requested a trade, we should certainly be kicking those tires pretty hard, no?

Both Calgary and The Rangers seem painfully aware that they need to shake things up when it comes to team makeup. But thus far Calgary has been far more reluctant to pull the trigger. We’ll see if larger talks result in a smaller move, with the possibility of a bigger follow-up move down the line.

you think DQ would let JG trade his boy (howden) for him?

I think we should be able to get him without giving up a roster piece. We have so many prospects. Gauthier + a pick or lesser prospect. Who knows. I think Howden is developing into a solid bottom six player and I have no problem keeping him around. I’d rather have Bennett and Howden both.

I think the biggest issue is C. So far our best C has been Chytil and he us gone for weeks. Mika is clearly not right and his injuries overall the past few years are concerning but the guy can’t win a face off ever. Strome is obviously not the answer. I really hope we draft a legit C prospect we need it badly

the problem with drafting a legit c prospect now, as we've seen with Chytil, Kakko, Laf, is that it doesn't really help for around 3 years. So even if we can nab a high-end draftee they likely won't make an impact until Panarin is very much on the downturn, Mika may be gone and the three mentioned earlier are all off their ELCs and taking up a large part of the cap.
I don't know what the answer (or the plan) is, but I'm not sure the Rangers front office or coaching staff can wait to develop a prospect that isn't even in the system yet

One more high pick. That's all. Fire Quinn in the off season, draft a stud C, and go into next season with a veteran coach.

It’s different for everyone. Of course he’s going to say it had no effect so people don’t freak out

Anyone with their eyes open can tell he’s dealing with after effects
it affects mika worse because he has bad conditioning bc he's too busy DJing and conditioning his hair rather than his body

I’ve been talking about the east/west when they should be looking north/south all season,
I’m glad one of the players brought it up.
They want to play a pretty game. They can't when they are not as fast as last year as a team and opponents have them figured out with the 1-4 or 1-2-2.

Bingo unfortunately the time has passed for drafting a Center prospect that will take 3 years to develop. Would have been someone like McMichael but we traded that pick away in 2019. If Zibby doesn't snap out of it and Chytil doesn't come back from his injury strong we definitely will need to figure something out.

You know, there should be a mechanism by which teams can bench coaches. I would like to see Quinn in the press box for a game or two and let someone else run the team. Maybe it would help him see things differently. I'm not even joking.

Really wish the shakeup was the guy behind the bench.

I’d be interested to know the reasoning for the goalie tandem. Like I get it Allaire likes Georgiev but it’s pretty clear Shestyorkin is the guy. Why not get him in a routine if they’re serious about winning?

The guy has blown the doors off every league he’s been in the last 3/4 years

I know the Rangers want to make Georgiev a thing, but stop

I don't want to see a big blockbuster trade to try to "fix" this thing for this year, and Chytil's supposed to be out for just a month or so, but man, Laf and Kakko need some center play to help them out. Invisible game from both of them tonight. Zibanejad is having an awful season (and maybe we'll look at this thing and COVID five years from now and wonder why he was even out there), Strome is Mr. League Average, and Howden is worse. He looks okay as a grinding player now but whenever they put him with the skill guys, he never does anything.

I wouldn't hate Sam Bennett, really just buying low and crossing your fingers that he can finally do something, but that's already half of our roster! The team has the mentality of guys who were really cool in high school/college.

man this is a game that was infuriating. Getting the tying goal scored on you after the refs miss a high stick and boarding call is some shit, and then that last goal was a bad one by Georgiev compounded by him coming out to play the puck away from DeAngelo and back to the Pens seconds before that. DeAngelo had a guy on him but it would have at least let the Rangers touch it/gain posession and have a chance to make a play and instead he just gave it right back

I also think this constant mix and match line stuff is bullshit, stop it.

Strome has also just been terrible, plays are constantly dying on his stick. Zibanejad needs to wake up, and while I've defended DeAngelo as a good player when he's not on he is really not on. Lotta bad plays tonight and it's amazing that he handles the puck like a damn grenade at the offensive blueline when receiving passes

I'm sorry to say but I find Laf sometimes coasting when he can be harder on the play chasing the puck.
I’ve been noticing this big time and it’s the only thing that concerns me with him. And it’s only concerning because this was a big time strength of his coming out of juniors.

I can understand if he’s a bit timid but his value proposition is skill/IQ combined with high compete. His physical gifts aren’t good enough for him to get away with floating.
