Yep. Crazy thing is with how crappy the islanders have played the 4th spot is up for grabs. You can't tell me NJD, Buffalo is better than us. Would have said same thing about Pitt but obviously DQ's team is proving me wrong after losing three straight to them

Sullivan is a much better coach than Quinn. They should not have won any of those games.

If you were a betting man, would you say they are going to look to fill the gaps you've mentioned throughout this season, or just wait for the draft and FA to see what they can do?

That’s a good question. If I had to guess right now, I’d say they aren’t going to do anything rash - though they did reconnect with Calgary.

I think they have a lot of money coming off the books and they are going to monitor different situations around the league.

I am going to guess that bigger moves, if they are available to make, will come after the season.

I also think that for better or worse Quinn is going to be judged by the progress of youth above all else.

So right now, if I had to take a guess, I think he at least finishes the season.

I think the biggest issue is C. So far our best C has been Chytil and he us gone for weeks. Mika is clearly not right and his injuries overall the past few years are concerning but the guy can’t win a face off ever. Strome is obviously not the answer. I really hope we draft a legit C prospect we need it badly

I hope Jeff dosen’t go out and make a panic move for a center. Because I’d rather just ride this thing out frankly

Maybe Barron can be a very pleasant surprise like K'Andre has been? I mean can he be worse than 80 percent of our forwards right now? Obviously it's a moot point DQ is not gonna play him.

Absolutely. I would take a look at Bennett. He can play wing and center right?

Yes. He has *some untapped potential still, since we’ve never seen him on a different team, but he’s pretty good on the draw, physical, PKs, has skill even if the production hasn’t ever shown up yet and he always seems to bring it in the post season. I think he’d be a fan favorite and at worse an ideal 3C who can play wings and slot up the lineup.

Agree. You want to say he can be inconsistent? Fine but that’s the case for most players except for the top elite players. Kreider isn’t elite but that’s ok. He was the 19th overall pick in the draft not the 1st overall pick. Most players drafted at 19 dont amount to much but he has been a top 6 player her for like 8 years and big playoff moments as well. Hell I’d sign up for that with any player picked at 19. But I’ve always said this fans wanted him to be a superstar and anything less was a major disappointment to them which I always felt was pretty unfair
People also seem to conflate effort with hustle. I’ll agree that a player who never hustles is lazy. But I expect a player to know how to manage energy. This isn’t a video game: even the best-conditioned athletes run out of gas (see OT tonight). Wouldn’t it be nice if players were responsible enough to have a little in the tank in case you get trapped in your own zone? Then you can turn on the jets and dump the puck in while your teammates change. Also, shifts in speed are far more dangerous than speed outright, because unpredictability is the real danger. When is he going to kick it into high gear? When is he gonna turn in the jets? Will he go through me or go wide this time? You have to mix it up. Your enemy isn’t a brain dead AI.

Since we know they’ve talked quite a bit with Calgary and Bennet has now officially requested a trade, we should certainly be kicking those tires pretty hard, no?

at some point I’d like to see a coach in here that dosen’t flop like a fish outta water with his lines after the first 5 minutes

you think DQ would let JG trade his boy (howden) for him?

And why can’t Miller find PP2 QB duties? Guy is having some year. Lafreniere and Kakko have no role, bouncing all over the map, and with Zibanejad going BAAAAD right now, they’re playing with weak centers.

What's the common denominator here? 19 draft highly touted, NHL ready prospect. Comes in an has disappointing year. 20 draft even MORE highly touted NHL ready prospect. Disappointing start. The common denominator is the clown behind the bench.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the young players Quinn has done the best with happened to go through college hockey.
