This victory is well earned. What a game the whole team played. No passengers and every player showed up. Especially strong shout out to the Killer Bees and Pager lines, all 6D, and the entire team effort closing out the game the last 6 minutes.

I am impressed with the maturity of this team, and this I believe will bode well for them in the next round.

Because he was available?

I was looking for a JGP type acquisition, getting a guy not as a rental but to help build us into a dominant contender.

What younger fans don't know or realize is that the early 80s Isles not only played hard like the current team, but had massive skilled players.

If they were down say 4-2 in a game going into the 3rd, they were like "we got this" and would score 4 goals to win it, because on skill alone they had the guys who could do it.

Yes, it was a different era but the confidence level of guys like Billy Smith, Denny P, Trots (not Trotz ;) ) Boss, Tonelli, etc, could turn it up a notch and just crush their opponent. They just knew what they had to do to win, and would do so. I am hoping we can build up the team to that level, where we win multiple cups over the next 5-10 years, and acquiring players like Forsberg would help.

Proud of this team and happy for this fan base which has gone through so much and deserves this.

NYI won a banner tonight and we’ll get to see it raised on Belmont opening night. Can’t remember the last time the team did that. Have a chance to make the banner even better with 8 more wins.

We get a banner? Yay awesome. Id like 2 banners. :naughty:

You can’t mention anyone else to my father besides Ovechkin. Says Bossy was the purest goal scorer he’s ever seen.
Bossy was the best pure goal scorer ever. I was shocked that I didn't remember he only played 10 seasons and scored 573. He IS the all-time leading GPG scorer, more than 99,66,9 all of them. Look at these freakin stats!!!!!

My takes are that this may be the best we have been since dynasty, as I think the 1993 team peaked in the Pittsburgh series and last year's team wasn't battle tested. It has been a long stretch just not complaining about anything, Lou really put the right pieces in place, which Garth could not do, which was coaches and deadline acquisitions. Make no mistake about, this team is loaded with Garth Snow draft picks, he was on to something, but he hired croney coaches and added Chris Wagner's at the deadline and you saw what Wagner does tonight.

Pelech is an elite dman, and the 6 that we suit up make few mistakes. I do think with Tampa's depth that we won't match up as well and Mayfield/Dobson will make mistakes in that series

Palmieri belongs here, I think he needed to assimilate, not sure how we afford to resign him, but he is a born Islander

As much as Nelson and Pelech have been dynamic, I think the best player on the ice in the playoffs has been Beauvillier, he is one of the most relentless forecheckers in the game. To me, he was a huge difference maker, I mean Pageau does the same thing, but some credit has to go to Beau.

It is fun in Islander country and once again I think we are the point of playing with house money, as Tampa is expected to win, but we can beat them, if any team can beat them it would be the Isles it won't be Vegas or Price.

Happy for Trav and Greene as this may be their last shot at getting a CUP.

Palms has been very effective these playoffs.

It seems Lou's pickups at the deadline (the 2 Ex-Devils as he likes 'em) have made him look like a genius.

(btw, that hit on McAvoy by Palms was a bit iffy, to be kind. But it's not like Marchand and the Bruins haven't pulled some shady crap on their end)
I'll add Zajac, almost the forgetten man until Wally was hurt, now I can't imagine him out of the line up, what a determined vet, he almost always wins every puck battle. He was great this series.

Forsberg was not available and not on the market. If he was, then it would have cost more than a '21 1st rounder. The cost would have hurt.

And this is what Snow did, the roster has a lot of guys he drafted and even when he drafted bad he recovered with the barzal deal, so some credit goes to him. He was a good late round drafter, not sure how much of that is luck

He definitely acquired some solid pieces. He never did anything with them so I’m not sure how much credit he really deserves.

I hated Snow but he also deserves credit for the Vegas expansion deal cause I'm pretty sure that first round pick was to save Pelech from getting selected.

No he never could pull off the deadline trade which is the critical skill of a GM and like Trotz was describing, he knows "who" to add.

He got a lot of heat for protecting Pelech way back when too, there was a lot of hate for that move at the time. Pelech always had the signs of being great, just was bad with his back to the net, and that improved quickly under Trotz

Anyone else feels like this is a turning point for the franchise? Things have been looking up since Ledecky took control from Wang, but it truly feels like we’re a legit franchise again with a new arena incoming, as well.

Maybe my weirdest characteristic as a hockey fan is my likes and dislikes based on a geography: I’m a Torontonian who hates the Leafs, considers the Bruins my second-favourite team, and of course, has a 43-year history of the Isles as my undisputed #1.

That’s right: if we’d lost this round I would’ve quickly pivoted to wholeheartedly cheering for Boston. (Apologies, because I know Boston stuff generally doesn’t fly with New York sports fans, Long Island, Manhattan or otherwise. Like I said: weird.)

But I couldn’t be happier. Lot of lost years and eras between 1988-2018. A b2b semi-finalist team is incredible stuff. Doing it with fans and with Nassau in the mix lifts this one above last year. Amazing, electric stuff. ELECTRIC. Saints alive!!

Like I said I hate giving him credit lol... but after the series Mayfield had Snow deserves some credit for giving him that 5 year $1.4 aav deal which is looking like a steal now.

Yes I think this is the best this team has been since the Easter Eve marathon. Sometime after that the team lost it's anointing and it was a slow decline into loser hood. I could go as far as saying the Pierre Turgeon trade to Montreal, so we may be finally restored back to where we were the day before Maloney made that disastrous trade for a turd that did not want to play here.

This just occurred to me folks. We played in the division of death this season. Made the playoffs, and now are the last team standing from the East. The best division in hockey. This alone should make us all extremely proud. We took the toughest road and are still standing. Something tells me this is a special team. If St Louis can win the cup 2 years ago, why not this Isles team? No bull either. I truly believe we can win it all. 1 out of 4 teams will win the cup this year and the Isles are one of those teams. Something is happening around here.
