Anyone else feels like this is a turning point for the franchise? Things have been looking up since Ledecky took control from Wang, but it truly feels like we’re a legit franchise again with a new arena incoming, as well.

Realistically for anyone who wasnt around during the dynasty years this is our best stretch by far.

Bossy was the best pure goal scorer ever. I was shocked that I didn't remember he only played 10 seasons and scored 573. He IS the all-time leading GPG scorer, more than 99,66,9 all of them. Look at these freakin stats!!!!!

Just a machine of a Hockey Player. He epitomized the term “tough” without being what most people consider a tough player. As a man of smaller stature, my Dad had great respect for his toughness and didn’t need to see him drop gloves to know it.

I think it’s great to have alumni around the Team. I really hope these players look back at guys like Mike to see what a star takes to get through a rough patch.

I hope I’m not overstepping, I’m not just referring to your Team, but rather all Teams. It’s so easy to forget history. I think it’s a great tool to help inspire the next generation, if used properly.

This just occurred to me folks. We played in the division of death this season. Made the playoffs, and now are the last team standing from the East. The best division in hockey. This alone should make us all extremely proud. We took the toughest road and are still standing. Something tells me this is a special team. If St Louis can win the cup 2 years ago, why not this Isles team? No bull either. I truly believe we can win it all. 1 out of 4 teams will win the cup this year and the Isles are one of those teams. Something is happening around here.
we got a 25% chance at winning the cup, no matter what Dom Lychuzyzynskizynsysnzysn model says.

What seems impossible to me is that Ray Ferraro actually had a better shooting percentage than Bossy as an Islander, of course he didn't have Bossy's longevity on the Island.

Yeah I like the spirit of what you are saying. There was a time in the season when I was talking with someone and we were thinking the Devils, Sabres, Isles and Rags would not make the playoffs, but lo behold we are the last team standing, not Marchand, not Crosby, not Ovechkin, but Brock and company.

I think all 4 teams (assuming Colorado has lost their heart like they usually do) have some factor

Tampa - Stamkos was not on the ice the last time, he wants to taste it
Montreal - they have the best player in hockey right now, in Price
Isles - they are very Blues like except they have a coach, not a former goon turned coach and Isles roll 4 lines
Vegas - they have been knocking on the door

Ferraro was not a volume shooter, a lot of his shooting was doorstep goals ala Matt Moulson. Bossy was shooting all the time, and typically Isles rolled 3 lines and barely used the 4th line so there was just a volume of shots. Bossy was the best goal scorer I ever saw in my life.

I'll add Zajac, almost the forgetten man until Wally was hurt, now I can't imagine him out of the line up, what a determined vet, he almost always wins every puck battle. He was great this series.

I did mention him.

"Trav" is short for Travis (his first name).

But yeah...he's a warrior in every sense of the word despite his nerdy goofy-ness at times when he celebrates a goal. :D

I hope you don't think I was saying Ferraro was better. I watched both too. I know. Lol

For every single one of my 10 million posts about charles wang, the feeling we all feel tonight is why I would never shut up about it.

I knew we were dead with wang and it could be this good with real owners.

God bless Malkin and Ledecky. If you think what’s gone on here the last 3 years vs the previous 15 is just coincidence then go root for the Sabres.

No LOL, it was odd as a kid growing up you would get the hockey card for the shooting percentage leaders and it was always weird guys. I think the Wild coach Dean Evason was that kind of guy like 9 goals on 40 shots... JP Bordeleau was a guy I remember back in the 70's, the best goal scorers never lead in those categories

I love Mike Bossy, but tough never really registered as an adjective for him, many would say that the toughest Islander was Brian Trottier, he actually never fought much because goons did not want to lose to a skilled player. Bossy was mentally tough I think if that is what you are saying.

Until last year, our best performances for 26 years were 2002 and a couple teams that had to come a long way just to get into the first round, but had no prayer of doing anything in the second. These guys take over, put Lou in, put Barry in, let them run the team the way they need to, and already have 6 playoff series wins to show for it, with 2 semifinals appearances in as many years.

That's not even having the discussion about bringing the team back from a weird building at the edge of Brooklyn while building the soon to be best, all-new venue in the NHL.

I think it's safe to say you're not going to find people on here arguing it's a coincidence.

While we're reminiscing, remember when Garth Snow was so petty that he denied Chris Botta, a former team employee, any further media access because Botta had the nerve to call out his wretched results during what was probably another 30 game losing streak? Glad to see everyone able to take part in this.
