What happened to Skjei, why does he look so terrible on the ice? McQuaid also looked bad.

Nothing's happened or happening to Skjei. Happen or happening is a progression from something to something. He's the same as he ever was and physically stronger. It's hard to play top pairing duties against Connor McDavid, there's a learning curve to 1D duties.

Rangers couldn't connect the dots numerous times. Seemed like one of those games where they couldn't catch a break.

Officiating is usually not very good but 3rd period today was ugly bad. Between the non call on Hayes getting thrown down from behind to the Namestnikov hold which was really him being interfered with by Yamamoto to the phantom holding call (again on Yamamoto) on Staal. Can't say the refs took two points away but probably one as the game probably goes to overtime otherwise. How a team handles adversity comes into view and that second Staal penalty kind of put us back on our heels again so that picture got blurred a bit. Anyway the Rangers didn't rise enough to tie the game and.......

Great game by Henrik. Zbad was good today. I like the Zbad-Fast-Kreider line.
Poor execution happened in the last game too. The ability to find the space in the offensive zone has been promising, but they need to execute or else it’s moot.

Forecheck needs to be better for every line and not just 6-8 forwards every game. The defense is still a work in progress, but I haven’t been too happy with them collapsing too hard around Hank. I like the zone, but they need to make sure they’re boxing out more of the defensive zone. It’s getting there, but it’ll take time.

Instilling a new identity and system takes more than five games, so people just need to be patient. It took AV 20 games, and he was a top HC in the league when we hired him.

Howden impressed me again, and I thought Claesson had another strong game.

Nothing I've seen so far has surprised me regarding this team, Frankly, I could see this coming a mile away and said so. This is a bottom 3 team, folks, and this is how bottom three teams look.

They are certainly not underachieving.

I don't remember who posted it, but it was around the time that he was dealt that someone here that heard info third hand posted all about him doing awful things to the rookies and young guys on the 2016-17. Vesey was the main target. Same person also posted that Glass fought him and kicked his ass because he was so out of line. Can anyone else back me up on this? I understand it's off topic, but would appreciate.
Yes, I do remember it. I don't remember if it was left up or not, though. But that's an accurate recounting of what was posted at the time.

I also don't understand all the complaints about Quinn. He is a first year coach, with a rebuilding team, that is incredibly young, raw and lacks any true high end talent.

People are acting like this is the beginning of last year with AV. There is no patience in here. It's going to be an insanely long year for a lot of people apparently.

It's not besides the point. It's literally the point.

Firstly, you're not Nostradamus, so it's very possible their record would be the same, if not similar, with better officiating.

Second, I just find complaints about officiating so pathetic. Players and fans who do so after a game is over just sound like they're making excuses and looking to place blame anywhere but on themselves or their team.

The Rangers are not good this year. I know it's hard to fathom since we've been contenders for nearly a decade, but it's the truth.

Losing is in our best interest. And they surely didn't deserve to win any games they've lost thus far, sans maybe Buffalo.

People are aware this team is not good.

You are understating ice tilting. I mean they aren’t even trying to keep it on the DL anymore.

We should offload assests to move him while we rebuild with a slim cuppard?

Wtf

Definitely -- one contract like that is a complete iceberg for a team trying to get out of a rebuild in 2-3 years. We have 3...

The game is getting faster by the day. You want the kids we get in a rebuild to play in front of Shatty, Smith and Staal in 2021?

I can almost guarantee that Shatty's value will not go up. If its negative now, it will become more negative with time. We can't have three ice berg contracts on the blueline for another three seasons.

We read that letter to the fans and agreed to the rebuild. Nobody said anything about patience or enjoying it.

I think they need to sit on that egg for a bit.

Never has been and never will be. It's been been 5 games and it feels like 50 after reading some of these posts.

Thanks for the back up.

Point being, keeping Miller around this locker room without any sort of strong leadership would have been a disaster. Never mind his inconsistent on ice play, as has been mentioned as well.

A rebuilding team that outplays opponents regularly...right
Yeah that's the thing, where we're at now, I think we're bad. But, I've seen enough to think that we're not that far away from being mediocre. I've seen flashes of good stuff. Could actually be a problem once everyone settles into the system and Quinn gets settled with personnel.

I'm not Nostradamus, but they were screwed on THREE game-winning goals (I don't count the empty netter as the GW goal in the first game, since it doesn't happen without the 2nd goal). Is it possible that if not for those goals in all three games the other team would have still scored another goal in regulation anyway? Yes. Not that likely. Two, if not all three of those GW goals were scored in the 3rd period too. Also, bullshit, this isn't about excuse making, this is about holding these God-forsaken awful at their jobs refs accountable. Why do we only hold the Rangers accountable and not the refs? If the average Joe makes mistakes THIS bad THIS consistently at work he/she would get fired. Why do the refs have no accountability? You're missing the point to sound like this enlightened realist.
