Not exactly advanced when you are on the ice for 1 goal for and 7 against. Especially with sheltered minutes.

Poor guy never has a good partner....and somehow managed to have the amazing, incredible year last year where everybody on the bench was sooooooo happy when he scored.
Yea he had an amazing year despite having Staal as his partner. Looking back, Staal may have even been decent for him when you compare him to JJ. Just wait until he’s paired with anyone but JJ. If he still sucks after a good chunk of games, then it is what it is.

And I thought you were referring to advanced metrics. My bad.

I don’t think this is a game to get on Quinn. Yeah the team blew a 2 goal lead but it happens to young inconsistent teams. Quinn played the hot hands broke up the lines in the third, it worked. They didn’t score but they clicked. And for people complaining about Strome getting ice time in the OT, you need a center out there. Mika, Strome, Chytil. You can’t have 2 forwards who aren’t centers out there at the same time.

I mean lafreniere plays more like a center than strome ever could

DUDE! This argument is so f***ing trash... it could be Jack Johnson... but seriously. Ryan Strome blew a platypus’s dick hole and he was out there for not one, but TWO, OT shifts. Maybe it’s more important about giving the ice time to the kid we drafted first overall and is going to be the face of the franchise for the next 10+ years ?
That was gutteral.

Yeah a good question @nyr2k2 - the window is not yet closed and I dont remember when, but they should try to improve our 4th line.

Last thoughts from me, I'm really not that upset. I think on balance of play they probably should have had the points. Two unlucky goals sunk them. I mean they over-pass the shit out of the puck and then take way too many low-percentage shots but still, they played recently. Some guys really need to step it up and soon. Can't get off to too slow of a start in this format.

I've given up on defending Quinn, still does way too much objectionable shit, but that's another thread.

Btw , for all the shit Kakko is getting he has more point tha Laf.
I think they both will be great, but it is something to everybody think a outra before complain about Kakko.

This should be reason alone for his seat to be hot.
I mean his line f***ing dominated and he led the team in scoring chances.

Granted, he f***ed up those scoring chances, but still.

Spoiler: it’s only a matter of time until Chytil is this team’s #2 center, if not #1 center. Strome can play great or play terrible, he’s going to be overtaken by Chytil either way (and before his contract is up).

The kids carried the team tonight. This is the kind of game you remember 5-10 years from now when the Rangers are at the top of the league and Fox/Lafreniere/Chytil/Kakko are all wearing letters (alternates obviously Buchnevich will be captain).

We just saw group of kids barely old enough to buy beer nearly win an NHL game by themselves.

You guys are all focused on Strome and Johnson, but Kreider, man, he's been as invisible as he's ever been.
Fair, but we expect Kreider to improve and play at a high level. With the other 2, Johnson in particular, there's no benefit to waiting out their struggles because this is what they have been their whole career. Not to mention there's a superior replacement in Smith sitting on his ass in the press box.

One more positive post. If I had to choose Miller, Chytil, and Kakko looking good or Mika, Panarin, and Laf, I'd pick the former. I don't have that much worry about the latter.

Also, 3 of the 4 games our D has been pretty good. I think once the big guys start clicking and we get the luck we'll win some games.

Who cares about the outcome tonight. Miller is awesome and instantly a fixture in his age 20 season. Unbelievable. And we have Adam Fox too? And Lundkvist is coming? And Robertson? And Schneider? That can’t be right?
Wait till Quinn ruins every single one of them!

We should have an outstanding D core in 2 years.

Miller being almost elite right away is a very nice and unexpected consolation, but Lafreniere needs to seriously pick it up.

I wasn’t worried about Kreider in the immediate future. I’m more concerned about what the contract is going to do to us in a few more years.

Nobd of our Vets are playing good hockey though. Zbad + Panarin both look off. Strome is in la-la land. CK has had 1 solid game so far.

Buch has been out most consistent forward imo.

Laf has 4 games under his belt. And he’s played pretty well in most of them. There should literally be zero pressure on him after 4 games his rookie season in a year where everything is out of whack.
