I think you can celebrate different things about a game. Yea, losing a game where we’re up 3-1 sucks balls. But seeing some of the kids perform is a victory in itself in the grand scheme of things.
Don’t get me wrong, love seeing those guys score. But this is another loss here to start the season where every game is a 4 pointer. I’m passed the rooting for losing at this point.

As someone who’s 40 and has seen numerous high draft picks in various sports, I’ll tell you firsthand you need to be more patient.

Like you said, we’re headed into game 5.

And despite Laf still being scoreless, he absolutely 100% is NHL ready.

The points will come. Have faith.
Thank you, but he regressed tonight. Players have bad games or off nights, so it’s not panic time yet, but I hope this doesn’t become a trend.

it makes a ton of sense to put the vets who played excellent together last year together this year. They are still trying to win games...

That said Strome needs to f***in pick it up, he is struggling bigtime out there.

Also dang, Miller, he's coming along faster than I ever thought. 21 minutes tonight without any special teams, that's whole damn lot. Only big thing I'm really seeing that's standing out to me as a negative is sometimes his passes are still JV level. That's just NHL rookie trying to adjust though...sometimes a pass looks like it's there but it's not because someone is waiting to jump the lane, it's something he'll learn. Some of his other passes have been great, but he's gotta learn to read the ice for those "trap" passes.

It’s not women-haters. It’s our legal system-haters. And Quinn is 54. He’s a part of the generation that, for the most part, gets married. Especially when you have money and you’re not exactly ugly.

Not really. He's GenX. That group was at the forefront of people foregoing marriage, and it's become more common among millennials. This is a very odd detour, however, so I'll leave it at that, haha.

Yep. I think JJ is playing mainly to help teach the new system. Eventually he’ll be sitting. Is my guess. Let’s see what the lineup looks like in game 11. I know we have less time to waste than in a regular season, but that’s the longest I think is close to reasonable to wait.
The only thing JJ knows how to teach is being terrible at hockey!

(Did I do it right?)

Ah, I thought he was a boomer. And sure, I’m fine with leaving it.

To put this Quinn wifey thing to rest:

Kill this subject with fire and never talk about it again lol.

Wasn’t he on the 1st line? I didn’t watch the 1st period though. Who was he playing with?

Look, I just want a f***ing Cup. I’m 24 and I was born 2 years after 1994. The hype that Lafreniere was getting was extremely high. “60 point rookie season.” “NHL-ready.” “Immediate impact.” I’m not saying that these things won’t happen this season eventually, but we’re heading into game 5.

He's a left wing and has played exclusively at right wing so far. It's just stupid to do this to a rookie IMO. Play him where he is most comfortable.

Meh I think Zibanejad was pretty bad tonight which definitely didn’t help. Just need to give it some time. Laf looks really good and I definitely think once the points come, they’re going to start to come like crazy as he gets more confident. He’s definitely in that ‘defer as the first option always’ mindset that a lot of rookies have. I think once he starts scoring he’s going to build his confidence and realize he can do it himself.

I definitely don’t see the big time red flags you see with other kids who are playing that clearly aren’t ready.

Great- Chytil, Miller, PDG, Kakko

Terrible- Deangelo, Panarin, Lindgren

well it’s a change of pace at least. Coach using Miller in 3v3 over Trouba was gutsy
It is gusty but it makes sense. Miller skates like the wind and at that size he’s absolutely the type of player to use in 3 on 3. Trouba skates like he has cement in his skates. I like Trouba a lot but with his foot speed he shouldn’t see any time at 3 on 3.

In some ways I feel like putting him with the star players is hurting him a bit in that Panarin/Strom and Kreider/Zibanejad are always looking for each other and Lafreniere has to try to figure out where to go and how to be effective rather than just playing his game. He's having to adjust his play to theirs.
In the long run that may not be a bad thing, but tougher going in the short run rather than sticking him on a line to "be the man" and force feeding him minutes
