One thing I noticed is the whole team looks slow. Even Kreider.
They play slow. They move slowly through the neutral zone. They hesitate to move the puck in transition, they look for an east/west pass when they should be looking north/south play. A lot of doubling back and curling back. A big thing with playing fast is pushing the puck up into transition immediately and going, this team is constantly doubling back to the D who then hold it for too long and allow the opposition to get fully prepared in the NZ. Theres very rarely attempts to catch the other team with their pants down so to speak.

Quinn talks all the time about playing fast but the team is anything but. We could go back and watch clips of the 2014 and 2015 teams to see teams that ACTUALLY played fast. No hesitation, looking to turn up and go in transition immediately.

I feel like this is what happens when you have a coach who doesn’t really have a system and a roster of kids trying to please him. You get a lot of hesitation and trepidation.

Well I think this team is just structured differently. That team had speed up and down the wings with centers who were playmakers/distributors who were not the most fleet of foot. That was a team that was built to be a more north/south, forechecking game. I don't think this team is built to play that way so much.

@jay from jersey On No not Malkakhov. Miller has more heart in four NHL games than VM ever had. For you younger fans, he was known as the Tin Man on old school ESPN message boards back 20 years ago.

Malakhov had two good seasons of NHL hockey and then went on to be a coaster for the rest of his career outside of being read the riot act by Lou Lamariello when the Devils rented him for a Cup run where he was beaten and submitted to do nothing but play defense, and three months as a Ranger which he used as an audition for the Russian Olympic Team and then proceeded to give up.
Purely skating I was referring to

Panarin hasn't been his usual self this year either but you can tell that his hands aren't completely there yet. He's still making plays and outside of the first game, hes won more puck battles than hes lost.

I think Strome has made 2 good plays so far. He continues to be our opponent's best penalty killer when ever we're on the PP. Hes arguably this teams biggest problem right now (and this is only becuase the team refuses to sit JJ)

Panarin hasn’t been his usual self; still has 5 points in 4 games.

Gotta give that to AV, his teams played fast.
