They have played a total of 7 games in 10 months. It takes time to gel especially with the system they like to play. I sound like a broken record but it's going to take a minimum of 10 games to play the way they want to and have in the past. They also were the better team last night and against the devils.
That's good and all, help me to understand how the Devils , with a new coach, played a more structured game this early? Something is missing here

don't really know what to make of Gaut

there's simply nowhere for him to go unless he starts running over the other team and making it impossible to keep him down.

I think he has to make physical, bottom-line type of play his priority first to make sure he stays in the lineup because when points are not coming immediately it’s hard to warrant a place anywhere higher. It would provide platform to eventually convert on opportunities in addition to make him a more versatile player - just look at how Di Giuseppe was able to stick around.

IMO bringing him over was a good good gamble even if doesn’t work out for the organization. When it comes to trades, especially involving prospects it’s impossible to bat a thousand.

Strome was no where near as bad as he is right now.

He's a black hole for offense/production/creativity right now

I understand coaching staff staying with it expecting that Strome eventually gets to his last season’s level, and wanting it to happen because it will make the quality of whole lineup deeper. However the proverbial leash to wait until this happens is shorter as it would be otherwise, as there are good options appearing that weren’t there last season.

Also less season in which to happen.

Panarin hasn't been his usual self this year either but you can tell that his hands aren't completely there yet. He's still making plays and outside of the first game, hes won more puck battles than hes lost.

I think Strome has made 2 good plays so far. He continues to be our opponent's best penalty killer when ever we're on the PP. Hes arguably this teams biggest problem right now (and this is only becuase the team refuses to sit JJ)

i thought Chytil was excellent last night. his passing, shooting, puck carrying and vision are all there. he looks like a destined 1st liner.

This opinion of yours doesn’t surprise me.
What is that suppose to mean? This is probably the first time i’ve ever said he had a terrible game in 2 seasons.

I think you’ll be pretty hard pressed to find even a handful if posters here say he had a good game.

There was a sequence - a couple of shifts at least - in the second when it looked like that Panarin was everywhere just taking pucks away by getting into Pens pass lanes way early than it should have been possible.

Im telling you if Quinn sticks with a Miller-Trouba pairing by game 15-20 we’ll be watching a very good, big, mobile, shutdown pairing. Miller has the wheels and quick decision making and trouba brings some nasty. Trouba is an underrated outlet passer while K’Andre can skate it out of trouble. Both guys have no problem moving the puck. I like the one poster who compared Miller to Vlad Malakov. They both are big men that have that silky smooth stride when they skate. Also, it let’s Lindgren-Fox continue their great play history goin back to their team USA days. They are very comfortable together. That can be a pretty good top 4. Main problem is the third pairing. I think smith-DeAngelo would be fine at 5 & 6 but the hard on to play Jack Johnson looks like it’s going to last a while....

@jay from jersey On No not Malkakhov. Miller has more heart in four NHL games than VM ever had. For you younger fans, he was known as the Tin Man on old school ESPN message boards back 20 years ago.

Malakhov had two good seasons of NHL hockey and then went on to be a coaster for the rest of his career outside of being read the riot act by Lou Lamariello when the Devils rented him for a Cup run where he was beaten and submitted to do nothing but play defense, and three months as a Ranger which he used as an audition for the Russian Olympic Team and then proceeded to give up.

If Laf and K'Andre are rooming together, then why does the former suck while the latter is taking off so effortlessly?

Clearly there must be a scientific explanation.

Because it's easier to play a more structured defensive game than the push the pace offensive and more creative style that the Rangers play. That Rangers style of play just takes longer to get the timing back. It's not rocket science. It's a big reason they looked like crap in the bubble after a 4 month layoff. They will look more cohesive as they continue to play together. Same thing happened last year. Talk to me in 2 weeks. BTW the devils did give up 50 SOG and if it wasn't for a poor performance by Georgiev we win that game.

Yah your kidding yourself if you think anyone can carry strome when he’s playing like this. Panarin can’t pass to himself

That's the point....everyone saying Panarin carried strome last year and now that strome isn't playing well the line is dead. If I'm to believe the haters he was always bad so how come the line sucks now? Can't have it both ways even if you guys wanna cherry pick it. Both players playing well are crucial to the line, this year and last year. Panarin wasnt good the other night, neither was Strome but they both played a part in it no matter how focused everyone is on Strome. Its amazing how people turn on players here, he has never been as bad as people say, he's struggled to start this year the same as Kreider, Mika, and Panarin. Nobody is allowed to criticize those guys though, its hilarious and god forbid if you mention that tony can't play defense lol.

NJ has gotten their teeth kicked in this season so far.

The record doesn't reflect that, but if their current level of performance keeps up, they won't be winning many games.

Btw did you see Fredricks chirping Subban the other night, was pretty funny.
