What's odd about these games with Ryan is that he's not even playing close to what HE can do, which is a mediocre 2nd or 3rd line center. If someone told me he was a rookie, it would make sense how tentative and frightened he's playing. He wants the puck off his stick so bad. Its too dismissive to just say "he sucks" and move on. He's untradeable right now and there isn't a replacement.

No doubt the coaches see something is way off and that's why they're pushing him into situations where they are BEGGING for him to get a goal/point/confidence. I suspect we'll continue to see him on the PP and OTs in an attempt to "get him going" to some level that's acceptable. Its infuriating to have so much angst over a player that really shouldn't matter...but that's the Rangers C situation.

So what, he hasnt been good. Neither him or Strome have been, neither is helping the other so while its cool on here to bash Strome, Panarin isn't helping him either, thats why Buch landed on the line to try and spark it. Panarin is always gonna pick up the odd point here and there but he isn't being paid to be a wallflower. The turnovers yesterday were really bad and hes supposed to be insulating the kids but our 3rd line is bailing his line out.

Well thank God he can pick up those "odd" points when he is playing poorly and playing with Strome because those points matter. He still leads the team in scoring while he is playing crappy according to you. He is coming off a year in which he was a Hart finalist. It's 4 games. The least of my worrries are Panarin. He will still be a PPG player.

I don't know man. The whole team is not in sync at all. I believe they will play better, eventually. I also noted that you seem to be an ultra pessimist.

Nope i love panarin, hes just not playing well right now. I love how Kakko, Chytil, Fox, Miller, Lindgren, PDG, and Lemieux are playing. I just have a problem with people laying this on guys that arent supposed to be difference makers. Our top guys as a whole haven't been good but its easy to crap on Strome, and blame Johnson and now people are even dumping on Lindgren and Shesterkin, those are all easy targets but none of them are getting paid to lead this team and until Mika, Kreider, Panarin and Strome get going this team isnt going anywhere. Im far from a pessimist, i believe this team is much better than their top players are allowing them to be.

In a game where everyone beats everyone and lucky pucks are a factor, I'd argue that the dataset is not big enough to make any type of conclusion, this is still in the neighbourhood of "interesting but need more data" to conclude with anything.

Turnovers matter

He killed in the shots for vs shots against. Same on high danger chances. The guy plays at the very top of the speed and quickness of making plays so turnovers should be EXPECTED.

Please let me know which of his turnovers became costly?

Maybe?

I think it’s says more about Johnson than it does DeAngelo for sure. We knew Johnson was bad and he is continuing it. Plenty of data and eye test reflecting that. He is going to drag down whoever he is with.

Cool, then I totally agree with you. My apologies

For me the first four games have just been weird. Really I think we outplayed New Jersey and yesterday was just letting an easy game get away from us. The defending has been sloppy--finishing off our chances has been another issue. There's like a bearing down problem. Beyond Strome and Lafreniere's issues--Zibanejad and Kreider haven't been accomplishing a whole lot either. It's like a team trying to find its sync.

So 1-2-1 could have easily been 3-1, while the top players still finding their games and coaches - line combos? I will take that.

Yesterday's game was almost like watching pond hockey and some of the shit that happened was just ridiculous. It was like Panarin in on the goalie who's practically falling over and failing to score or Chytil shooting it off the post in OT.

I'm not a fan of Johnson mind and I don't like pairing him with DeAngelo. I think at the moment Quinn is trying to force to many things. Things should happen naturally and I'm not worried right now when Lafreniere is going to get his first goal. Figure out your lines and start getting production out of them and if it means Zibanejad-Buchnevich-Kreider work best together leave them alone. Panarin's going to carry Strome to a certain degree anyway. If Brendan Smith is playing better than some other guys--play him.

Right now the only line I really like is Chytil-Kakko-DiGiuseppe.

Didn’t you hear - it’s not about points (and apparently fancy stats neither).[/QUOTE
Not that he hasn’t been good or has played terrible. I don’t know it looks like his timing is off a little or something. Last season pre bubble he was burying chances and off one timers etc. it’s still very early but last year this game would have been a 3pt night for Artemi. I get what some posters are saying. I think the more games he gets the better he will be much like the rest of the team. Like I said very very early

Im not gonna watch the game for you.
