That ain't a guarantee. Dallas probably had the best package at this time. When the battle escalates between Toronto, Carolina and Tampa, we might see something stupid. Not only he's forcing his way out but he's forcing Columbus to accept a lesser package for him.
A 3 way trade. A shit of a load of futures for team X, players from team X to CBus (beacuse Waddell is an idiot and doesn't want futures), and Werenski to a team.Columbus is in a no-win position here. Tampa Bay isn't flush with prospects or draft picks, nor high end young roster players.
I'd be asking for J.J Moser + 2028 1st + 2029 1st if the Lightning are serious about wanting Werenski.

Replace Geekie with Sam O'Reilly, then. They don't want picks.
Moser + Geekie + whatever.
Not only he's forcing his way out but he's forcing Columbus to accept a lesser package for him.
Same as Brady. That's requesting a trade without requesting a trade. To be fair, that tweet says he has not requested a trade. He’s simply told them he won’t be extending his contract beyond the current one.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Geekie will help them make the playoffs. That's all they want.Replace Geekie with Sam O'Reilly, then.

I also, frankly, have no issue if a player asks for a trade. But it's this recent trend where players are like "trade me to a contender please" that annoys me. If you want out, you should not be the one dictating terms.I disagree.
“I don’t want to be here, I don’t want to honour my contract, trade me.”
vs.
“I will honour my contract but don’t want to sign a new one.”
Nothing wrong at all with the 2nd approach. Well within any employee’s rights.
No it’s not?Same as Brady. That's requesting a trade without requesting a trade.
The Senators sent Tkachuk to Florida in a blockbuster trade on Sunday, landing three first-round picks and a second-rounder for their 26-year-old captain. Brady Tkachuk had told Ottawa management he wasn't going to sign an extension when his current deal expires in 2028.I disagree.
