Rumor: 2026 Free Agent Frenzy

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Xenforo Cloud is upgrading us to version 2.3.11 on Monday July 20, 2026 at 12:00 AM PST. Expect a temporary downtime during this process. More info here
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

With the draft in the books, it's time to look towards July 1st and what Sakic and Co is going to do with our remaining 5.6 million in cap space.

Turning our attention from drafting and trades to what Makar and Lehky will get for extensions.

But I still expect one more trade for a forward.

Would be wild to send Harley given he only has NMC protection in the last two years of his deal.
That's exactly the kind of return Columbus is looking for. They want players with term who can help them make the playoffs now.

Harley just signed for 8 years, it would be insane to send him to Columbus before year 1.

Makar and Hughes are going to get PAID during the next few weeks. Werenski is up in a year. Even if they could theoretically make the upgrade over Heiskanen or Harley (I don't see the sense in that), they would have to pony up like 16M minimum next summer.

Just makes zero sense.

I wish Avs would put that cap to use and bring Marchment. or at least Schwartz. nah who am I kidding, if they add someone from UFA will probably be a Kerfoot or Saad...

It makes a ton of sense. Seguin comes off the books next summer, plus the cap is going up, so they'll be fine.

Obviously gonna be a very quiet FA for us outside some AHL signings.

Just have to hope that one of the better wingers is willing to come here for a little less for a better chance to win than other teams
