Rumor: 2026 Free Agent Frenzy

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Xenforo Cloud is upgrading us to version 2.3.11 on Monday July 20, 2026 at 12:00 AM PST. Expect a temporary downtime during this process. More info here
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I haven't read thru the last like 10 pages from today, has RIAL talked to any of his guys and put out any names we might be looking at for tomorrow?

If it wasn't like that before, it doesn't have to be like that now.
What has changed, is the player's mindsets. You are asking the players to think differently. That's a hard thing to do.

The fact that previously NHL players were fine with just signing with their drafted teams for max term, was an anomaly in sports anyway.

Greer is way more physical. I think he's injured 3 Tampa players in the last season alone?

The ability to injure opposing players and barely get a penalty has big value.
There’s a whole league of AHLers who can skate fast, hit hard and injure people.

And they’ll do it for league minimum.

Greer is being paid to do all of that but he also needs to produce.

Jenner wouldn’t be a bad get.

He skates pretry well despite being bigger. Still puts up 50 point pace despite little PP time.

Any of the reported guys COULD be good.

They just have to be cheap.

Kiviranta 2-year extension incoming.

I think Winnipeg f***ed up not trading Helle before the draft.

Buffalo is rumored to have offered 4th overall and JacK Quinn for him. I don't see the value getting better than that.

Hmm, not a bad player, wish we could get a bit younger tho. Although it's hard to get younger thru FA. You usually have to trade for those types.

Jenner is younger than Landy, Burns, Nelson, Kadri and Manson.

So yeah, we have a pretty old team
Dude seems like he's always injured, too.

If we were to get both Jenner and Drouin we'd have a pretty deep group of forwards. I'm sure it wouldn't please the people who want to see the kids but Bednar doesn't trust kids anyway.

Assuming Drouin can still pass the puck like he used to, he's a good fit with both Kadri and Nelson. He'd also help the PP.

I don’t think we will outbid the Leafs for Jenner, but it’s interesting that LeBrun specifically mentioned him for us.

Our bottom 6 is kind of jammed. Jenner would add a lot of speed and puck retrieval ability for Kadri and Roy on the third line. Also keeps Kelly on the 4th line with LOC where he is better suited. Svechkov would have a lot higher chances of succeeding with them on his wings.

Drouin coming in around $1m certainly makes it easier to add another forward.
