You've gotten technical about this, and you're not correct. The first round pick in the Tank deal was conditional. It was the later of the Rangers pick and the Dallas pick. One or the other, and therefore very much a part of the Tank deal. As it turned out Dallas's pick was later, so the Rangers kept their own and picked Perault.
In this scenario, it seems unfair to knock Drury for negotiating to keep the better pick.

We're probably able to recoup some, but we are very quickly running out of top-3 round draft picks over the next few years. Only have 2 of 6 in the next 2 drafts and 4/9 in the next 3.
I know they are rolling the dice on this core being good enough and draft help being a t least a few seasons away, but with the absolute dearth of center prospects we have, and the unknown status of Chytil, I'm not sure how many more picks we can afford to give away

They are not the same guy. Similar tools sets but hanafin is far and away the more effect player with the higher iq
I think I’d have to be compensated for the shift, top 15 protected vs unprotected type of shift, which is exactly what they got.

They can just as easily recoup picks by trading some players this summer. Not going to worry about a 2nd or 4th rounder that could be 3-4 years away assuming they are good enough to make the NHL.

Agreed on both halves of that sentence. Wouldn't want to do that much for a rental. Would do it if we signed him to an extension as a part of the trade, or of course for a different player with term beyond this year.
