Trading for Chychrun just to sit Gustafsson and keep Lindgren would certainly be something.

How many rounds will Lindgren last before he breaks down? Trouba ran out of steam completely two years ago to the point Tampa just played on him and won handily when they needed to. And he was much better then.

Paying premium for Guentzel only to have the D fold would be... "interesting".

I mean he didn’t want to be on the team because they literally never played him lol, he sat like 60 straight games after Schneider came up. Drury got a good return for Nils given the circumstances but he and Galant are the ones responsible for burning the bridge in the first place with their ridiculous prioritization of rookie Schneider who was ass.
Nils barely is playing for the stars….do you even watch hockey?

Schneider has his faults but he’s already a much better player then nils and has a higher ceiling

Our fanbase: OTHER TEAMS ARE KILLING THE TDL! WHY CAN'T WE BE BOLD!

Also our fanbase: NO, NOT LIKE THAT! WE WANT TO BE BOLD AS IN GETTING ALL THE STAR PLAYERS IN EXCHANGE FOR GOODROW AND A 3RD.

I can't even sometimes. You can't be jealous of other teams' bold moves and also refuse to move anything of value in a trade. Bottom line is that Schneider and Byram are similar value. Byram has the much higher offensive upside and the draft pedigree. Schneider is more durable and plays the right side. Neither player has shown much to this point in their careers, which means the primary value for both is their potential. We can dream about moving Trouba next year to move Schneider up to the 2nd pair, but it's pretty clear that Drury and the team see Trouba as part of the solution rather than part of the problem. 10 to 1 says that Trouba is more likely to be extended than he is to be traded. So we'd effectively be moving our 3rd pair D who plays less than 15 minutes a night for a top six center who is great at defense.

I like Schneider, but if you can bring back a 60 point center under the age of 25? You move a Schneider in a heartbeat.

Holy shit, you pulled my response from a month ago for this?!?!?

Let’s see what the Rangers do in the upcoming playoffs and how it impacts offseason moves. Your statement about Trouba is nothing but your own projections. He’s going to be movable this upcoming offseason for the first time and that’s the only fact.

He’s played 70% of the games and is playing the exact same amount as Schneider on a per game basis with excellent on-ice numbers. He’s also arguably the higher ceiling player given his puck moving skills and offensive game. Can’t fault him for Pete Deboer occasionally scratching him for Hakanpaa who is a liability

I wonder if you could get a top 4 prospect from someone who believed Lindgren could help them immediately.
Maybe I’m delusional but if nyr do their first at the tdl, I really do think they can recoup one at the draft for lindgren. Having an abysmal year, but he def has an all-in reputation around the league. Also if nyr do flame out like last season, trading lindgren would def be a wake up call/a change of culture trade nyr might need considering everyone else pretty much has a ntc.

If Mika continues his malaise " No Trade Matters"( trademark?) :)..get a serviceable guy on his right at a reasonable cost and lets roll. I love our options after this season. 20-8-31(I would consider a trade)-I love our youth 73-84-Oth-Gabe-Sykora-Berard- Fescue-Garand-this years 1st. Rising cap and UFA being available allow us to be patient and retool quickly.

Yes, yes Bill Zito is God and Chris Drury is a chump…

Even though Florida just barely squeaked into the playoffs last year…. But that was just an aberration. Zito = God, Drury = Chump.
Zito's team made the finals last season. Drury's made the ECF two years ago and people want to raise a banner. Florida won the Presidents Trophy in 2021-22 and lost to Tampa. The Panthers look really good this season with all of the components needed to win. Do you really want to compare the body of work between Zito and Drury? Are you really that foolish but we already the answer to that question? Go look at the players Zito has added to the Panthers.

Larry essentially dismisses the Guentzal idea. For good reason.

He does loop back to Buchnevich, mentions a 1st and prospect like Sykora. Makes sense.

He also mentions Chychrun and shifting Lindgren down to 3rd pair. Not the worst idea, cost aside.

Chychrun at 50% for this year and next? Cheap vet like Patches instead of a big time RW addition?

Schneid and goodrow for buch maybe

Rangers don't have any professional depth on RD currently to even consider moving Schneider. Not to mention it would be an awful idea.

Goodrow will be gone in the summer.

Disappointed to see we didn't trade for everyone over night. No Buch. No Guentzel. We missed Hanafin. No Zucker.

All four should have been rangers by now. Come on Drury. Wake up. :sarcasm:

Drury has made two huge mistakes. He traded Buch for crap and he f***ed with the group to get Kane.

There are some hit or miss moves, but overall we knew going into the season we were hamstrung for cap. We've navigated that well enough with a lot of others not pulling their weight.

I think he's learned from mistakes. We need guys that will keep us out of our zone and play well when they do get there. Wennberg is the start of that.

I think there are two forward adds. One will be that winger for Zibanejad and Kreider. The other will be a veteran that can play on the 4th line and PK.

Let these other teams make the splash move. Go get the next Vatrano, not him for too much. Add solid players that will have roles and go. I don't think Geuntzel wins you the cup, so I'm not doing it for that price.
Nemeth was just as bad if not worse. Both the contract and then trading 2 nds to get rid of him.

Let's not forget that for some unknown reason, Suter seems to be stapled to the ice -- I don't understand how he never gets "a night off."

Yes, call me foolish. And I will call you a constant whiner who perpetuates a sky is falling, woe is me, victim mentality around here. The same mantra over and over again. Now we will see several posts of you calling Drury a chump. You seem to have it all figured out RB. You have all the answers. Every other GM is better than ours. Zito, better. Zito makes the best trades (even though they haven’t won shit and were on the cusp of being walked right out of the playoffs in the 1st round just a year ago). Raise that banner for Zito RB. Let’s ignore some of the other moves Zito has made & some of the luck that team has had with Bob finding himself in the playoffs last year because otherwise that team is a mess and irrelevant right now. Giroux trade bad. Vatrano trade, technically bad return for them because he cornered himself. You want to laud Zito (and every other GM) and bash Drury every chance you can. Good for you man.

I am not saying Drury is perfect. Not even saying he is spectacular. But miss me with the worshipping of other GMs who have not won a cup, not to mention a lot of this is a crapshoot. Boston had an incredible team last year and get knocked out in round 1. How many years did it take Colorado to win with that level of talent? Same goes for so many others.

idk why some of you feel so compelled to defend drury tbh

he's just another mediocre GM. certainly not a "good" one. what's there to defend? lol
I wouldn't say I want to defend him, but this board is full of the our coach sucks, our GM sucks crowd. And the truth is that the evidence doesn't back it up, nor are any of that lot smart enough to identify why the correct answer is mediocre.

We are mediocre cause our team doesn't make the move for the long term solution. The team is too scared, whole F.O. or possibly Drury, to take a f***ing chance. I f***ing love Vegas. They make moves for players that can help and they have term or they sign them right away. I bet Wennberg is good for us. But I also bet we let him walk. We shouldn't.

If the Vegas office was running this team over the next 2 days, Lindgren and Goodrow would be traded. They are not good and the team shouldn't have time for not good. Not good doesn't win cups. Lockeroom be damned.

Not that the team shouldn't care about the players feelings or chemistry, but it shouldn't stop them from changing out bad players for good ones.

it kinda does though

we're a bad 5 on 5 team and that wins cups. a fluke run off the back of SHesterkin and Fox going god mode doesn't change that.

Nils was traded for picks. What happens to them after is not related to or reflective of the Nils trade in any way other than circumstance. Need to find long term solutions.

Mediocre is what you get when you have an owner who's only concerned about getting into the playoffs.

Not defending Drury but Zito has had some misfires too. Look at their 21-22 TDL. First round pick for Chariot. First round pick and Tippet for Giroux. Got swept in the 2nd round.
