If you're mad about trading a 2nd rounder for a guy who perfectly addresses one of the biggest deficiencies on the team then I don't really know what to say. It's market value, in a market with VERY limited centers available at that. Overpay would've been a first or 2 2nds (a la Eric staal)

The core is in their prime, the East is pretty wide open, the Rangers are one of the 2-3 teams with the best shot to win the East, they made an upgrade. Are we supposed to NOT make upgrades where we can?

Unless you wanted Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick for a first instead? Or K'Andre to Buffalo for Mittlestadt? Because those were the other 2 top 9 centers available AND both were traded before Drury pulled the trigger on Wennberg.

I didnt want to go as high as a 2nd, but i think they identified a player they wanted and needed to pull the trigger. Hes really a replacement for Chytil. They didnt give up a prospect either.

Center market is pretty bare. I think its a good move and the deficiencies Wennberg has will be covered up by utilizing other players in that role

Doesn't Hit - Cuylle can get in on that line
Sucks at the PK - Shouldnt be used there, but good to have a backup
Sucks at faceoffs - Trocheck and Goodrow will be out there for the important ones anyway.

His pros outweigh his cons. He can skate. Good IQ. Experience. Manages the puck well. Significant upgrade over Brodz

I like the player and this is a good deal for both team. This team needed depth so badly down the middle
