This could bode well for a Chris Bassitt trade, actually ( holding some money naturally)
All true but this is where a team who has built farm and the Bigs properly would just reach down to their farm system and pull out a gem. Seems like every time you turn around the Dodgers, Astros, Baltimore are pulling someone out of their ass from their farm and that person is a difference maker, why cant that be us?I get that people hate Shapiro and Atkins (and not completely without reason), but the past couple seasons have had some seriously GM-independent issues that are out of a teams' control.
If Alek Manoah didn't spontaneously combust, then the Jays have an ace starter to go along with their otherwise stellar rotation. Yeah, you shouldn't count on young pitchers to not have their arms blow up, but Manoah had a 2.24 ERA over nearly 200 innings. If you don't make a gamble on him maintaining that form, you are going to be forever a doomsday prepper.
If Bo Bichette didn't have a season from hell, the Jays would continue to have one of the best offensive shortstops in the game. Bo certainly has had some holes in his swing, but you can't expect your 5 fWAR SS to suddenly become a 0.3 fWAR SS.
If Romano was still Romano last season, the bullpen wouldn't have been as big of a dumpster fire, because everyone would have been pushed down a slot.
Hard to win when 8-10 WAR from premium positions get wiped off the map when they were planned as focal points for the past 1-2 seasons.
I feel like sports fans get in this cycle where they find it easier to be miserable and negative about their team because they are in a no-lose situation mentally. If the team does poorly, they can feel vindicated about their negativity and lord it over fans that choose to not be hopelessly negative. However, if their team ends up doing well, they can still be pleasantly surprised and be a bandwagon fan. This has completely poisoned discourse about about sports online and you can use this thread as prime evidence.
Im just hoping they dont fall from 5.Not sure how I feel about this tbh. Both Romano and Garcia had injury issues last year. They don't want Romano back but want Yimi back for the same price for 2 years. It's pending physical so obviously if they also don't like his medicals they can pull out of the deal. Romano's medicals must have been a serious issue or Yimi's must be quite good for them to be ok with 1 and not the other
On a positive note. 9 minutes until we get the first overall pick
Trade VLAD trade Bo start over. That’s the only option left
Get a whack of sick prospects and go from there
This team ain’t even close to competing. Worst team in the East
I look at like they are more familiar with the two pitchers medical situations than any of us. Perhaps they were more concerned with Romano. Not sure how I feel about this tbh. That report has since been refuted by Davidi and BNS. Supposedly our offer was below $700M.Thank god Toronto is not a destination team, only incompetence saved this franchise.
That what i worry about. Cleveland won with a 2% chance last year.MLB lottery is different where they draw for the first 6 picks so to not fall to 7th or below they have to win a lottery at some point. Rather than the NHL where you can stand pat if the teams above you win the 3 picks. All semantics I guess but if they have to win 1 lottery to stay top 5 might as well make it the first one
Definitely sounds like shaner. Not sure about this one - I can think of a couple of posters who used to defend absolutely everything this mgmt group did...including one poster who has now done a 180 on that and has gone from only good vibes to full negative.
Not that that's such a bad thing - balance is good.
750, 650, 550 for a one dimensional elite hitter who is shitty on the base paths, iffy on defence... is stooooooooopid no matter what price was. I'm legit happy the Mets signed him. That report has since been refuted by Davidi and BNS. Supposedly our offer was below $700M.
Well that sucks, probably going to take 8 years $240M for Burnes.Jays drop to 8th then a few minutes laters the ya kees aign max fried for 8 years
