If they aren't then you can bet they are seeing what they can get for him.Probably because he doesn't believe in Vlad.

I don't know... Romano signing for exactly his arb projection suggests his surplus value was zero, doesn't it?I don't see any universe where he doesn't at least bring back someone another team was considering non-tendering (like Finnegan)/
The Jays only had to commit 6.8 to keep Romano. He signed for his projected arbitration number, but trading would mean that the acquiring team got him with no hurdles. My opinion of the non-tender would not change based on signing Finnegan below his arb number, because he hit the open market (it's also very unlikely because the Cubs are interested). The point of this is that good teams generally don't give up arb years of guys with this kind of track record to pinch pennies.I don't know... If you think of Romano for Finnegan as a reasonable deal, then if the Jays were to sign Finnegan for less than his arb projection, would your opinion of Romano's non-tender change? I know it was just an example, but I think there are several ways it could end up working out. It's a long offseason.
Don't mind this at all.
I'm not sure what the bolded means. If they traded him, wouldn't the acquiring team still have to go through the arbitration process with him?The Jays only had to commit 6.8 to keep Romano. The bolded means that any team could acquire him and would be able to sign him (the projections are usually so good that he would be silly not to accept). By letting him hit free agency, they risk him signing with someone else (especially a rival) or having to pay more.I'm not sure what the bolded means. Not sure about this one - I can think of a couple of posters who used to defend absolutely everything this mgmt group did...including one poster who has now done a 180 on that and has gone from only good vibes to full negative.
Not that that's such a bad thing - balance is good.
I dunno….I could walk around in a t-shirt today….that’s not bad? LolHe wants warm weather lol so I think that takes TO out of the equation. At least I am pretty sure some reporter (shrill) claims this.
Another one of those 'let's see what's next' moments to decide if we should be happy. Garcia is good for the 7th inning and maybe the 8th, depending on whether we get a closer. Using Green and Garcia for the 9th and 8th would feel a bit risky.Dont mind garcia at all.as long as its for a setup role. He can close in a pinch to like green but still need an actual closer
Yeah, if they can add one of the better FA closers or trade for one of the rumoured guys, the pen will suddenly start to look really solid with new guy/Garcia/Green at the backend, a potential rebound from Swanson, and a few wild cards.Dont mind garcia at all.as long as its for a setup role. Hopefully it plays out better than last year's search for a bat, where every move was fine enough as long as they made the big addition they needed.Another one of those 'let's see what's next' moments to decide if we should be happy. Get ready for a season without a closer.Dont mind garcia at all.as long as its for a setup role. He can close in a pinch to like green but still need an actual closer
Yeah, what's not to like about a .323 hitter who hits for power and plays an above average 1st base.Probably because he doesn't believe in Vlad.
This seems like a bit of a strange thing for baseball. HOckey, sure. Not that many teams in the majors have issues with cold weather during most of the season. In a weird way TO's weather might be a plus compared with some of the nasty stuff that happens these days June through September. You may have a cold April but you won't be dealing with 107 degree weather in July.He wants warm weather lol so I think that takes TO out of the equation.
