Figured it was time for his thread. Another in the seemingly long line of higher end Slovakian prospects in recent years. Matta is extremely skilled and is one of the best Slovak‘s in his age group as of now. It should be interesting to see how he produces going forward.

He signed a contract in Slovakia until the 2026/2027 season, so the Slovak route can be expected. In the 23/24 season probably junior league, in the 24/25 season Project U18 / A team of Michalovce and the draft season he should play the whole season in Michalovce similar to Mesar and Nemec. The kid is really talented, so it will be interesting to watch his progress in the next few seasons.

Based on his play so far today I think he is a good prospect, just scored his hat trick goal, but I don’t see anything top top end. Will be interesting to see if he can establish himself in pro league.

He has good hockey sense and skill, but his skating is poor. Additionally, he seems to be nearing his physical potential. I don't think he will be drafted, as there are prospects like him emerging every other year in Slovakia. These are players with great hands and vision but lacking speed, as they don’t need to skate fast to be productive in our weaker junior leagues. I believe his ceiling is that of a point-per-game player in the Slovak Extraliga.
