How is everything not on schedule?
Lonzo Ball returned two weeks ago and had his surgery two months prior to Landeskog.
You're harping on this idea of him returning to the playoffs as if that was a 100% certainty to happen and because he didn't, something must have gone wrong.
Or, Landeskog was probably trying like hell to come back for the playoffs, realized he couldn't, and is completing his rehab 100% according to the timeline given just like Lonzo Ball did.
There is a little bit of an diffrence in importance between regular season games and playoffs. Landy might have been able to play during playoffs with a little bit of rust but now they are not taking any chances before he is completely good to go.

In January 2024 they thought he would be ready for April 2024 if everything went right.
We're in November 2024 and he's not even around the team, let alone skating with the team.
You can't say that everything is going according to the plan. The Lonzo Ball timeline theory is based on nothing, just like Makar needed a surgery last year. No one ever said that recovery time would be the same, or even similar, for both athletes.

Please go and find me where the Avs said he will 100% be ready come playoff time.
You also have no idea if he is around the team or not. The Avs hide everything.
Everything is going according to plan unless Landeskog says things aren't. Landeskog said he had the same surgery and has spoken to Lonzo Ball the entire time about recovery so yes, we should be using that. It's absurd that you claim the Ball timeline is based on nothing.

I posted a video earlier, from January 2024, where CMac says the timeline is 12 to 16 months and 12 months is right at the end of the regular season 2023-24.
We also have well informed people here who thought Landy could be ready for round 2 last year.
We're currently 18+ months into the 12-16 months timeline and he's nowhere to be seen.
Those are the facts, everything else (Lonzo, he's hiding, etc) is pure speculation and based on nothing.

So Lonzo Ball and Gabriel Landeskog had the same surgery, one coming two months prior to the other, and they have the same recovery, with Ball just recently returning, is pure speculation.
Then we have the "thought he could be ready for round 2" and McFarland thinking he could be a playoff options as facts.
Good to know what facts are and what speculation is.
I mean any time Gabe was skating or around the team we had media pieces on it. You can't really hide someone traveling with the team or skating at a practice facility. It's very clear something has changed since the updates were getting at the end of last season.
I agree that the Ball timeline is a decent comparable but again I think there's likely some sort of additional setback for him to be working as hard as he was and for it to completely just stop (as far as we know.)

I totally get where you are coming from with all of this. But it's been cloak and dagger level since the damn TDL last year.
The next time I'm even bothering to get worried is if there is nothing by mid November. If he's not practicing, or more info isn't available. At that point you have to wonder if his surgery didn't go as well as Ball's. I also find it interesting that Landy's surgery was less extensive than Ball's.
Sometimes they do the minimum needed and it is not enough, sometimes less is a good thing though. That would be pretty disastrous if it turns out Landeskog should have had the exact same surgery as Ball because that's what works.
My post has 0 sarcasm. I’m serious. He’s handicapping this organization in a selfish way right now in my opinion. Even if he comes back, is he really going to be anything other than an overpaid 3rd 4th liner? I’m sick of this fake comeback. I dont live in a world where you get the rest of your career excused because you gave up a lots physically to win a cup. Plenty of guys have done that and called it quits or moved on. Landys really hurting this team and organization for the foreseeable future. Even if he comes back he’ll be the highest paid maybe 3rd potentially 4th like winger who probably makes more mistakes that helping the team. He screwing over Cale and Nate’s chances at doing anything, and I’d even go as far as hindering cales odds of signing here when his deals up. Bit of a hot take but whatever

Not saying they know something, but announcers always talk to opposing teams and the Preds announcers mentioned tonight that Avs are hopeful that Landeskog will return around Christmas. E: Do want to add that Preds announcers are awful, worse than ours and that says something.
I agree with you though, I love all that he's done for us, but at some point, you're hurting the team more than helping. He's definitely taking the organisation hostage and his return has always been set back. I remember reading some reports in the summer that he was aiming for the start of the regular season, nope. Then around Thanksgiving, nope. Christmas? Probably nope.

It certainly feels very selfish of Landeskog to hold the organization hostage for years. His cap hit and possible return is handcuffing roster building and hurting everyone's chances to win. This might continue next year as well for the 4th straight season, that’s completely ridiculous.

Forget about Landeskog... He wont be back this year... Maybe an option in January/february 2025, if it all. Maybe the AVS go for a Kucherov, who knows..
At this point, we need bodies back... And we need them back asap. Lehky, Drouin to begin with. And then there is our russian guy.... We need capable players in out top 6.. And we need them soon. Otherwise we are falling behind the pack because this team, with this roster wont win many games, if it all. Its just a brutal line-up......
