I wouldn't say that's true. Many surgeries don't cure pain, they just help it get to a more manageable level.

Yeah, I get that. Successful enough to continue his career though?

It seems like Lanzo has had a consistent path to return without having to take step back.

Training on the ice, and then not? I don't see how that's not a setback.

Just throwing this out there, because the statement is as vague as always with the Avs, but Landy could have been sick. It's that time of year after all.

Do I think that is likely? Maybe not, but who knows with DefCon Avs.

Pokecheque

I’ve been told it’s spelled “Pokecheck”

This is one instance where I am perfectly fine with their Omerta-level silence on these matters. Doesn't benefit anyone--us, Landeskog, the team, etc.--if we hear about every little progression or setback.

It is all TBD until it actually happens. I'm just saying there is the possibility the surgery was a huge success and still not allow for him to be a NHLer ever again.

Undoubtedly it is a setback, but the permanence of it is up on the air. The way this was described to me was that if he absolutely had to play tomorrow, they could find a way. Just that the importance of games now or even Dec/Jan just isn't high enough to put the extra stress on it. The Avs can't afford to activate him today anyway, so why go through that and risk the whole thing? On top of this, nobody thinks the knee is going to hold up to 100+ games a year. More like 50-60 and it'll have to be managed.

Grain of salt this, but the timeline as I was told was this. He was ramping up and skating heavily again. On a routine checkup, there was a significant amount more inflammation than expected. So it was decided to stop activities and give it a bit of rest. With the goal of checking in prior to US Thanksgiving (my take, but wasn't explicit this meant some skating prior). If that goes well the ramp will start again after Thanksgiving with a target of January. If it does not, they will punt until the new year with a target of returning after the 4 Nations.

Well I mean the question was always could he play sports at a professional level post surgery. He is obviously more than fine living life day to day and whatnot. But obviously that’s far different than coming back and playing at a high level of sport.
Only if you consider living with Ryobi tools 'fine.' Which is a stretch.

Actual info, thank you
And my regret will sink in here in 3... 2...

Millwaukee does make good tools. But I dont want to pay 400% more for a tool that gets used maybe once or twice a month. What really matters though, is settling for a single brand and sticking with it. Battery commonality is everything

If I’m using the tool every day at work, that’s a different story.

I'm honestly just shit posting. Milwaukee, Rigid, and Ryobi are all made by the same company (TTI). There are differences, but some of the stuff is remarkably similar beneath the skin. IE the new Ryobi brushless drills are basically the Milwaukee model from ~2020. They just build Ryobi to a lower price point and use the bit older tech.

The only two companies that are really top notch still are Makita and Hilti. Even Festool has gone downhill and Dewalt is no better than Ryobi anymore (F'ing Stanley ruining every brand they touch).

I only use Milwaukee tools. Why you ask? When I first started buying my own tools I went with a Milwaukee and it came with a free battery. And because batteries are so f***ing expensive, that's the ecosystem I live in now. Also the Milwaukee repair shop has always given me great customer service.

This is how they lock you in! And honestly where Ryobi excels. They have so many random tools that work with their batteries. MIlwaukee changes their form factor to have it as widespread, but Ryobi forces their tumor battery on everything... and it honestly kinda works.

Now though with battery adapters and Alibaba you can get around that a bit. Nobody should be pay anywhere near full price for batteries today. Just find a reliable knockoff brand and they do actually exist.
