People like to say "no you can't excuse management if Michkov busts or doesn't come over" but I personally would. We got TONS of forwards in the pipeline and a guy like Leonard might be our 5th best forward. The benefit of having Suzuki/CC/Dach/Slaf/Roy/Newhook/Mesar (who I'm not entirely ruling out yet) means we can afford to take this kind of gamble and even though it would suck if it amounts to nothing, passing up on elite player would hurt even more). Not to mention that we will be able to make more trades/signings for legit top 6 players, but doing so for a star player is pretty much impossible.
I'm not really buying the "douchey" vibe that Michkov has apparently. A kid getting mad at his teammates for not being good enough tells me he has fire and willingness to win, that can be adjusted. You goy guys like McKinnon supervising their teammates' eating habits. The lack of plus skating is not ideal, but it doesn't seem bad enough to hold him back a lot. A poor defensive and overall game? Kucherov has to be the most nonchalant player in the league where he straight up doesn't give a f*** that he directly causes a goal against because he's got the talent to have his team score 3 goals to make up for it.
