Even he doesn't know who's picking who...a team might say they're picking him, but another team before that, might have a say.
Exactly. If he said that, he also knows who’s not drafting him. That means, he’s going very very early. In other words, he knows he won’t be there when Arizona picks, even if Arizona told him they were picking him.

Short torso long leg gang. Thats the real athlete build that allowed me to run a 4.64 40 yard dash at 19, about 11 years ago.

Yes, I will plug my athletic feats any time I can.

If the Habs stay @ 5 and they take the dman Reinbacher there, while passing on the likes of Michkov especially and even Leonard, I'll be first in line calling for his head.

I wouldn't mind Reinbacher around 8-10 he were still there but just not @ 5. I really want one of these high end forwards at the top of this years draft.

I have Ned Stark ready to wield the sword so you'd best choose very wisely tonight Kent b'y. :)

It's baffling. Quite frankly it's been baffling since that start of this conversation on here 7 weeks ago.
I'm looking forward to seeing whether the rumors about Michkov are true and he becomes a nobody, or he lives up to that hype and just shoves it so far down the throat of each critic that they will have trouble sleeping at night

People like to say "no you can't excuse management if Michkov busts or doesn't come over" but I personally would. We got TONS of forwards in the pipeline and a guy like Leonard might be our 5th best forward. The benefit of having Suzuki/CC/Dach/Slaf/Roy/Newhook/Mesar (who I'm not entirely ruling out yet) means we can afford to take this kind of gamble and even though it would suck if it amounts to nothing, passing up on elite player would hurt even more). Not to mention that we will be able to make more trades/signings for legit top 6 players, but doing so for a star player is pretty much impossible.

I'm not really buying the "douchey" vibe that Michkov has apparently. A kid getting mad at his teammates for not being good enough tells me he has fire and willingness to win, that can be adjusted. You goy guys like McKinnon supervising their teammates' eating habits. The lack of plus skating is not ideal, but it doesn't seem bad enough to hold him back a lot. A poor defensive and overall game? Kucherov has to be the most nonchalant player in the league where he straight up doesn't give a f*** that he directly causes a goal against because he's got the talent to have his team score 3 goals to make up for it.
Amen.

Are we even sure Leonard ends up better than Roy, Beck, Mesar, etc?

Meanwhile, if Michkov pans out, hes gonna be the Habs best player, hands down.

I heard he could be a cross between Drouin and Corey Locke. Those guys are hit or miss.

Seravalli on the Habs 5th:

Habs certainly want to remain in the top 10 if they can. They're checking the fluidity of the draft. They're weighing 5 trades. They're looking at 1 player they want and if that player goes off their list they feel they could move back and get their next target.

The scouts are buzzing that "hey, could the Ducks take Michkov at 2"

Has Smith at 4. Feels michkov ends up with the flyers at the end of the day, but he's not sure, not bullshitting anyone as no one knows, not even the scouts.

I do think Leonard is going to be better than those guys. He is a very good player who I'd love to have, I'm just more on board on going for a talent that is usually never available with our pick.

How much better? I love the Nard dog too, but assuming hes THAT much better than Roy, whom I think can be a sort of all situation play driving 50 points winger is a lot more than conservative for Leonard, its pretty close to his ceiling give or take 15 points.

Dude every year we think we drafted the next super secret elite player. I have been hearing it for decades.

Jason Ward! Ron Hainsey! Joseph Balej! Perezhogin! Kostitsyn! Duncan Milroy! Higgins! Constantine Korneeev! Urquart! Corey Locke! Chipchura! Ben Maxwell! Valentenko! CHRISTOPHER HEINO-LINDBERG! Max Carle! Nicholas Torp! Avtsin! Josiah Didier!

Avtsin was our Ovechkin!

People actually said that...

This would be an unforgiveable move by Hughes

Hughes isn't going to pull the trigger too early, he's too smart for that.

He'll wait until the four picks ahead of him are in and then check his phone.... I bet one or more GM will be calling and he'll only have a few minutes to consult with his scouts (pro and amateur) ... I can see Montreal getting a HAUL for the #5 pick at the last minute! :)

Well.. he knows he isn’t dropping past #5, so that is a good idea of who will draft him.

CLBs, SJ or Habs.
The issue is I doubt Grier in San Jose would have told Smith he was NOT drafting him. And he needs that information if he knows he’s going to the Habs.

Roy is a beauty, not enough people are talking about him. He and Hutson seem to be that "steal" type outside the 1st we haven't had since Subban. I think Leonard can do everything Roy can with more physicality and way better skating. Production might not be a big difference, but the impact will be.

We were assured Michkov will fall out of the top 5 and possibly top 10. Any other choice makes much more prudent sense.

Reinbacher baby!!

Go habs!!

Even if we don't take him, and trade down for a haul. The interests of other teams wanting to pay assets to get him, proves these thoughts to be faulty.
