Clearly, Real's dictatorship's history is MUCH better in your moral compass than current Qatar.
I mean, look at the number of deaths from each side... wait...

Ouch,..
Key word being past.

Qatar is current.

That's the difference. The dictatorship in Spain was not "much better" in my eyes. It was wrong, very wrong. Do not put words in people's mouth to serve your PSG-loving agenda.

Your whataboutisms to defend Qatar always will be extremely idiotic. I can acknowledge my club's past. Can you acknowledge PSG's present? No. All you do is saying all billionaires are bad. We had that discussion 20 000 times and it always ends the same. So, what we can agree on is that Bellingham's comments were dumb and that he should not have made them.

TBF time isn't real, so the past and present are the same. Meaning there's no difference between crimes committed by our ancestors and crimes committed now.

That's why it's evilo's fault that France is currently colonizing half the world in the 17th century and all of you americans need to sell your slaves before those radical republics get elected.

Not sure the German should be the one bringing this up :sarcasm:

 that's the direction I was gunna go initially; something like "just ask any brit, they're still psyching themselves up for the blitz"...or "that's why I was sent over by the nazi party to study Jim Crow"

...but I couldn't get the wording right to joke about how the english are still obsessed with my great-grandfather's generation, and joking about how the Nazi's used the american south's legal framework, felt too much like I was shifting the blame.

Changes everything then !
Since your whole club was built on that.

I never defended Qatar, and you still miss the point every single time. I simply point out the hypocrisy of those pointing to them while supporting corrupt teams built on fascism.

Actually I read this exact thing on this board.

EDIT : if that makes you feel any better, I think the same way about Chanel or Hugo Boss.

Sponsor vs controlling the club and using it for propaganda is the difference.

Bad either. But, as we discussed many times, there are levels to this shit.
Getting financed is getting financed… what exactly is propaganda? The whole sportswashing thing imo is over stated. Does anyone view qatar better because of psg? I really don’t think so.

That's mostly because the Qataris are PR morons who can't help themselves doing terrible shit as a means to an end (though realistically, they couldn't have put on that WC without the horrible shit they did, which really just means that their winning bid was a tragedy that should not have happened). Doesn't mean that their sporting ambitions aren't directly related to their government's goals. Whether they succeed or not is immaterial.

Though while I do agree with the general point (Real have rather little to stand on if we're pointing at PSG, especially when bringing sponsors into account), bringing up Francoist Spain to deflect from Qatari PSG is a farcical proposition and is little more than cope.

Not just Qatar how about UAE and city? New castle and Saudi?

Russia and 2018 WC? China and the Olympics?is sports washing really a viable way of cleaning one’s image or does it shine a further spot light on the governments terrible HR record?

I don't disagree with you, doesn't mean that the intention isn't there and should be ignored. Though I do wonder how much of a Western-centric view we're looking at this. Russian sportswashing might not work with us in North America, but it might very well work in other, less Russian-hostile regions of the world.

Not at all but when someone cries foul but proudly buys a kit with emirates stapled to there chest it really rings hallow.

I can’t say, I can only speak from the perspective I see.

I don't disagree. I recently started collecting soccer jerseys again after dropping the habit when I was a teenager. I don't/wouldn't buy jerseys with Emirates on it. Largely because they tend to look awful (but also because I don't want to advertise their garbage) and how good/popular a team is has nothing to do with whether I'd purchase the jersey. For example, I'm planning to buy a Bordeaux home with the Bistro Regent ad next. So far I've got a West Ham home, Bayern Munich home, Ajax Bob Marley and Roma home.

I mean good on you but I was referring to the madrid fan. Presumably he has a madrid kit or two. Although, I'd push it further and see who makes the kits in the first place. Adidas/Nike how are their practices in South Asia any different than Qatar slave owners?

Of course you can critique Qatar and trash them they deserve all the flack they can get. However being hard on them but turning a blind eye on others is selective outrage. It does give the impression of hypocrisy. JMO

Have I ever defended Madrid (or Arsenal or any other club with that sponsor) having a shitty sponsor? No. I said there was a difference between an owner and a sponsor. Moral issues with both? Aboslutely. I also keep saying how much I think Perez is a scumbag. If perceived hypocrisy makes you feel better about Qatar, fair enough.

I get why Evilo defends PSG, it is in his self-interest. Never understood why you keep defending Qatar though. Always puzzled me.

Perez isnt the club... you trash psg as a club but aren't bothered by your club taking money from the same slave owners. Its not about making me feel better.

I dont defend them, I've gotten into arguments with Evilo about Qatar. I can just see my team along with the other clubs have no real leg to stand on. Moral superiority and all.

I trash PSG's ownership. I want PSG to lose because of their ownership.

Would I prefer other sponsors at Madrid? For sure.

But it doesn’t stop you from cheering them on nor enjoying their footy? I rarely it ever seen you trash the club for taking Emirati money. I think that’s evilo real issue. Although I can’t speak for him.
