If you want to continue to draw hockey parallels, the Yankees aren't even in the playoffs if they didn't start like 48-16. Their starting pitching had an ERA below 2 at that point. Their starting pitching is good, but nobody does that.

The Yankees were fooled by their own hot goaltending.

Isn't goaltending a little different because if you rely on goaltending it likely means your team allows a lot of high quality chances? But in pitching they just batters regardless of how bad their defense is?

This is what happens when you build a team based off of Regular Season Analytics without any other input.

It's good for fantasy but not winning Championships.
People blame "analytics" but the Yankees don't really get analytics.

The Yankees are 16th in K% (the Astros are 2nd). The Yankees are 27th in win probability added in clutch situations. The Yankees are 28th in line drive %. The only teams that hit fewer line drives are the the Oakland A's and Arizona Dimaondbacks, two honest to God minor league rosters.

If the Yankees are sooooo into analytics like we always hear, why isn't this ever corrected?

You're not wrong. So pitching is probably a bit more sustainable. The point being that no staff does what the Yankees staff was doing early in the season. They were giving up 1 run game in and game out.

Doesn’t clutch not exist according to Yankee analytics? Like getting hot at the right time is pure luck according to them. They just happen to go cold every year in the playoffs, while the Astros happen to get hot, which is asinine bullshit at it smelliest.

10 AB's for Carpenter...9 K's. what are we doing here Boone?
He needs reps for next season

I mean its hard to give Judge a pass,he does this every postseason, especially against the Astros

Right. According to their analytics that Cashman invented.

Clutch hitting is repeatable. It's called making adjustments to the game situation.

Darling is 1000% correct. - Houston pitchers have thrown the ball down the shoot continuously and we swing and miss continuously.
There's no trickery here .

Almost every first pitch is a lob to get ahead 0-1. Somebody should clobber one them but it's not in Cashman's binder.

Judge is having a Mr . May Dave Winfield like post season .

"I let Mr. October get away, and I got Mr. May, Dave Winfield. He gets his numbers when it doesn't count."

Yeah.... about that. They're still stuck with rudimentary analytics... HR and OBP.
