Yeah.... about that. They're still stuck with rudimentary analytics... HR and OBP.
Funny thing is, since 2017, the Yankees are averaging a HR every 20 at-bats in the postseason. In the same timeframe, they're averaging a HR every 21 at-bats. They're hitting for slightly more power in the postseason.

In the 2022 postseason, they've averaging a homerun every 19 at-bats vs 21 in the regular season and that's with a guy hitting 62.

The idea some people are offering that the Yankees aren't hitting enough homers is like, so very much not it.

If I read "well, the Astros hit a homerun, that's why" one more time I'm gonna jump.

It's ridiculous how people have turned on Judge. He has one walk in the postseason. That's it right there. His entire approach is predicated on patience and taking his walks. He has no faith in this team bringing him around if he walks right now nor should he.

You are making a lot of excuses for him.its ok to admit he was brutal

Benintendi was actually a good pickup. He hits line drives and doesn't strike out (except that weird year he had in 2019). That was a real shame.

He'll hit for power in Yankee Stadium.

As it turns out, the short porch matters f*** all for guys who hit 35, 40 homers anyway. It benefits line drive hitters, a foreign concept to the Yankees.

I'm all for resigning him,but I won't cough up excuses for him when he's bad either.
The whole team is bad.

Somebody said earlier he's Rick Nash and that's actually pretty accurate.

He's the scapegoat for an offense that was constructed to fail before the season started.

There's not much you can do with the offense. They have the talent.

The bullpen is probably where you want to improve the roster.

With the offense, you just have to pray that Cashman changes his mind on the organization's idiotic approach to hitting.

Im not throwing they Yankees under the bus. Ive said it since they were hot and got no hit by this team. They could win 125 and Houston would be sitting there waiting to kick their ass.
That team is on another level.

Maybe so but this beating is on another level.

This wasn't Verlander or Valdez. The Phillies are going to take Javier behind the woodshed. He has nothing.

I called it years ago and I think now everyone is seeing it -- the offense is the problem.

We produce a line drive rate similar to teams that are tanking. You can't look at the Yankees on paper and tell me they have talent comparable to Oakland or Arizona.

Maybe they wouldn't be good enough to beat the Astros anyway, and I could live with that, but this level of offensive ineptitude is an approach that they're being coached to take.

That's frustrating.

I honestly think the coaching is a huge part of their issues. Just don't think Boone has the capability to inspire these guys during not so great times. As mediocre as this offense is it's not THIS bad - they have zero confidence
