The Yankees need to utilize Clarke Shmidt:

The Yankees have been ignoring stud bullpen arm Clarke Schmidt after sending him back down to Triple-A Scranton. The 26-year-old was shoving before his demotion, but the Yankees simply wanted to use his minor-league options to test out a few more players.

In the meantime, Schmidt has been absolutely electric with Scranton Wilkes-Barre, posting a 2.86 ERA with 12.39 strikeouts per nine, a 50% ground ball rate and 68.8% left on base rate over 28.1 innings.”

They weren't ignoring him, they sent him down to stretch him out as a starter.

Thanks for doing your due diligence as always on Montas Cashman

Meanwhile Montgomery has given up 1 run in 3 straight wins (one being against the Yankees)

Lou Lamoriello in his prime said I’ve never put a young player in a position to feel like he hast to produce to save the team or drive the team…

I hope the asinine asshole Yankees under Brian Cashman don’t f*** up this kid Cabrera…he looks to be a real Baller.

I’m gonna say if the Yankees lose the series to Toronto and get swept by the Mets ..

Aaron Boone will be fired on the off day next Wednesday.

Man for all the hype about the Mets they sit only 3.5 games ahead of the Braves who just took the series from them….

Pump the brakes bigtime on the 7Line

Braves are the defending champs…
And in the 9 games that they had, the Mets went 5-4 as the team ahead in the standings and the team that has the significantly easier schedule the rest of the way. Once the Mets are in September, the schedule is a who's who of teams outside the playoffs.

Alonso with a 30/100 season. He's hitting .274. I'd say right now he's the runner up to Goldschmidt for MVP. If he has a great September against a weak schedule and Goldschmidt struggles, he'll have a chance to be NL MVP.

The big talk is the free agents coming up for the Mets, but I'd be looking Alonso in for a long time. Don't play the arbitration game with him.

You know regardless of SoS and all that, it's gonna be a f***ing dogfight to the finish, because the Braves are beating every damn body right now. They have a lineup that's absolutely relentless and some really good pitching.

Yup

Might be better off because of it.

I feel like teams who wrap up the division early struggle to match the intensity of teams who have been fighting it out the whole time

Another example of why you can't let their miracle wins suck you in. Good teams wouldn't be in those positions so often.

Good pitching bad pitching, it doesn’t matter, they have 4 singles in 8 innings.

What a shock that Benintendi’s BABIP luck ran out.

He went from playing home games in a canyon where bloopers fall in to playing in somebody's backyard where you need like 7 fielders.

The Yankees should have known that.

I think I realized it a few days ago but this is BAD for the Yankees. It will be franchise changing if they collapse.

The best thing that could ever happen to the Yankees is missing the playoffs this year.

It's the only way Cashman goes.

Maybe they can then hire somebody real quick who will get the best player in baseball re-signed.

It's a very interesting time. If the Yankees fall apart, things can go two different ways. It gives the Steinbrenners all the ammo to make wholesale changes.

If they do not, I honestly think the fans could revolt and it could be cataclysmic in nature to the organization.
