The Mets work counts, put the ball in play, and make good contact. They are 6th least in strikeouts and 5th in batting average balls in play. They have a very good offense.

Yeah and while they don't hit a ton of home runs, it's not like they're bereft of power. They're 10th in SLG in MLB and just one point off of fifth in the NL.

And I wonder what the average opposing starting pitcher innings pitched is. Has to be one of the lowest in the league, if not THE lowest.

Good Yanks win, their Ace delivered, Lou was amazing out of the pen. Ben didn’t hit the ball on the ground, a much needed win.

I love the blatant disrespect for the Phillies defense.

1st and 3rd double steal?

Basically telling the Phillies that they have a little league quality defense and we’re taking this run.

Plus it seemed like Cora gave everybody a green light coming around 3rd all weekend

We dare you to throw us out because we don’t think you can.

Love it

The Mets have finally built a classic Mets team; pitching, defense, scrappy hitting as opposed to being the diet Yankees.

The greatest challenge for them is, can they do this in October against top tier pitching consistently? If so, they have a chance for a long run to either the NLCS or potentially WS. Braves/Dodgers/Astros in that order are the three teams who if they face will be their greatest challenge for a championship. I think they can handle everyone else with relative ease.

I think they can still beat the Braves in a series if they have home field advantage. Sometimes teams get lucky and miss the one or two PITAs along the way. I remember in 2000 when the Cardinals beat the Braves, I told my friend the Mets are more a certainty in the WS because they owned the Cardinals that year as opposed to the Yankees who had a relative even split with the Mariners.

If the Mets win the division they will likely play the winner of the Cardinals/6 seed, which hopefully will be the Phillies. Let the Braves and Padres battle each other and then face the Dodgers. Mets will then have to beat 1 of the Padres Braves or Dodgers to make the World Series. That’s the best and easiest path for them to get there.
