This is the Val who Jagr said can be the best player in the league. Beast.
Loved Coyle’s play on the GTG. Obviously the assist but even before that. He was the one digging the puck out in the corner and starting the break only for Colton to turn it over and have it go back into the Avs zone. So Coyle busts his ass back again and was the one who gained the initial entry just before the goal.
That second line was unreal with Nelson in the middle. He was as advertised tonight and probably deserved better than just the one point. Immediately showed off that shot with the early ping. Wasn’t a fan of a couple of his defensive lapses.
Malinski played like a guy who doesn’t want the old guy to take his spot. What a game from him.
Let’s throw this Blackwood performance in the trash and hope we don’t see it again.

Last year we got some toughness at the deadline and that was about it. Now we got tougher with players that produce and are proven playoff producers. It's just awesome.

Yesterday was fun. Admittedly, felt frustrated when the Leafs went up 2-4. Good for Blackwood for shutting it down after that.
Never felt like they were out of it though. The ice was tilted in our favor from start to finish.
He had one in game 4 against Winnipeg last season. This was his first regular season hatrick.

Brilliant! If the Condor doesn’t play a game but keeps big val locked up playing fortnight and watching YouTube videos when he’s not at the rink, that would make EJ the steal of the deadline.

His transformation from cocaine bear to Bernstein bear in the last 9 months is truly remarkable.
I’m not all that shocked. I don’t recall the last time they retained on a player with term remaining. Like buyouts, this ownership group really, REALLY does not like paying players who aren’t on the roster.
