From the little I've seen of Volpe, he reminds me of Ian Kinsler. Smaller player, good speed and baserunning, and an all-around hitter. Solid on defensive side, but might be best as a 2nd baseman over a shortstop, but can do both.

Carlos Carrasco is a very popular player. Loved by his team mates. Seems like a great guy. He has not pitched well for the Mets. He is very frustrating.

Carrasco was fine last year. Sub-4.00 ERA over 150+ innings is a solid year from a mid-rotation starter.

I wonder if pitcher fatigue is going to be a thing with the new pitch clock. 80 pitches with the clock is different than 80 pitches without.

GKR were talking about that yesterday. They said they heard guys were tired. They're rushing. That part of it I do expect guys will adjust to. I might not, but they will.

On a blog the other day they mentioned that significantly speeding up the game also meant cutting out a lot of GKR, which I hadn't considered. Given how much enjoyment those three guys give me, that's sad to think about.

Tbf, Jeter should have been a 2B or 3B as soon as A-Rod arrived
Not when you have rings, and a rod has none.
A- Rod won an mvp in NY and a Ring - it all worked out in the end.

But were you saying that when he was a rookie or second year player?
No, but you could tell he was a great player immediately and I’m sure Volpe. is going to be a great player too.
Just my opinion but volpe has a 2b body type .

When I think of SS I think tallish lanky Rangey types.

Nobody ever said they couldn’t again I said he looks like a second baseman to me in the Pedroia mode.

So far, none of your comments have made any sense.

What does the guy in Houston have anything to do with this guy?
Because they’re both diminutive?

The average height of a major league shortstop is approaching 6 foot 1.

Average Height of an MLB Shortstop
The average height of a major league baseball shortstop is 72.5 inches (about 6'0 1/2″).

The average height of a major league second baseman is still under 6 foot.

I'm just goofing around. Figured your conclusion 3 games in that he will never hit more than 11 homeruns in his career should not be taken seriously

A-Rod was a good SS, Jeter was not. But Jeter's ego wouldn't allow for a move.

By the time A-Rod got to the Yankees he was heavy and a roid user third base with perfect for him.

“In addition to his offensive prowess, Jeter was also an outstanding fielder, with five Gold Glove Awards and a career fielding percentage of . 976. “

Despite what WAR says - he was fine .

Frenchy Cordero 112 mph tattooed double is going to give him a long look .

The Yankees are loaded w bats - slashers - slammers - tough to crack this lineup.

Cordero problem is his K rate - there’s a reason he’s moved around.

Could be a late inning bat type .

Marsch on the Phillies is an assrag.

Cut your hair - shave - this isn’t the nf.

When Arod came to the yanks he had just won 2 straight gold gloves at SS and led the league in homers for 3 straight years. The only reason jeter won any gold gloves is because the AL's best SSs moved positions or went to the NL.

Fielding percentage is maybe the worst possible metric for defensive ability, because you can't make an error on a ball you don't reach. Put a literal statue at shortstop and it will only be charged errors for balls that directly hit it.

I mean, you're not wrong that Jeter was fine at short (most of the time anyway), but he also didn't do what was best for the team by insisting on staying there when a better shortstop was acquired. The only argument for not moving him to third and keeping A-Rod at short was that Jeter would be an even worse 3B than he was a SS.

Jeter like a solid stay at home d man made all the plays - on the biggest stage - everytime … it’s that simple .
If Jeter moved anywhere it’d be the OF like Robin Yount did or 1B …
Jeter had a very good arm as well .

Now was He Omar Vizquel? Imo the best to ever do it ?
No

He got the job done .

A- Rod ballooned as a Yankee - immediately.
You forget or didn’t watch but A-Rod turned into a clubber - replaced quickness w bulk and felt he needed to hit 55 hr - often injured too.

Derek Jeter has no chinks in his armor - the ultimate winner - the ultimate clutch baller - the ultimate guy off field - the best ever with kids - 3000 hits - 5 Rings … 5 GG - 260 HR 1300 rbi ( those are impressive power #’s for a line drive hitter )
Teflon

And the media waited to get him … waited for him to f*** up …

Never happened.

Jeter played it the heart of the steroid era with a body like a middle schooler .
