Can he play bottom 6?? I always thought he was a top 6-only kind of guy

Yes. He can play top six or third line if it has skilled guys. He's one of the best 5 on 5 guys in the league for the price you get him at. He doesn't get love from coaches because he's a one way guy with no physicality but if you want 20 goals from the wing without significant PP time he's the best bet for the price.

Realistically speaking he's never played extended time with guys like 29, 96, 8 etc throughout his career.

If he can't figure out to the tune of a decent ppg with this opportunity his NHL career will most likely be over.

Realistic to me would be 50-60 pts if he plays 1st/2nd line and PP mins.

Looks like 29 has Drouin sitting in that bumper position while they are practicing so I wouldn't be shocked to see him there on PP1 to start the year.
lehky was 0.4 ppg in his best years in MTL and produced 51pts in 64 pts!
Compher stats have also been inflated and I expect a big drop
Kadri 84 pts season would not have occurred elsewhere except in Edm.

Drouin when healthy in Mtl produced 55pts so I believe a 65-75 pts season is realistic. Cant underestimate the Colorado effect. Drouin is still a much better offensive weapon than Compher and Lehkonnen IMO.

Not really surprising. The way last season ended, must've left a bitter taste to their mouths. A lot of injuries, bad luck, fatigue from the championship and shorter seasons... And almost all of the media and fans from the outside ignored this when we lost to Seattle. The narrative was a choke job by us and a wonder story for Seattle who fought and won against the reigning champions.

Yeah, I felt pissed after reading and listening to that stuff. Can't imagine what a guy like MacKinnon thinks. These guys want to prove it wasn't just a one hit wonder.

Training camp doesn't start for another 9 days, don't get why people are so worried atm that Nuke isn't there. Maybe the guy wants to spend time with his family before he leaves them for 8+months.

I mean... I've been a pretty loud defender of Nuke throughout the summer. IMO what happened in the playoffs wasn't a big deal at all and we never hear about it if the trainer made the decision the other way to not call an ambulance. Players having escorts on the road is a regular occurrence in the league, and the amount of drugs and alcohol these guys consume is a lot more than we realize. And, I don't think the gun photo was a big deal either.

But... Those couple events combined with him now being the only guy still not showing up to get some early reps in, isn't a great look at all. It's a sign that his head isn't in it anywhere near the level of the rest of the guys who are clearly hungry for a good year. Even if those events were mostly nothing burgers, it sends a good message for him to be showing up early to the Captains skates and putting in the effort to have a big year.

It isn't a good look for him to be the only guy not here.

Damn, I guess you're going to get going on Byram as well? Since he's not there either, combined with his concussion history, it clearly means that his brain turned to mush this past summer. Clearly Byram won his cup and now he no longer cares about the rest of the team.

And also, do you have proof that Nuke isn't in Denver. It has only been said that Nuke hasn't been skating, there are many things that can be done off-ice that can help a player gear up for training camp.

Quite frankly, until Nuke misses a day of training camp, we as fans shouldn't give a f*ck.

Pretty much this. Would it have been a good show of faith for Nuke to appear early, eager to work considering the way his season ended? Sure. But I'm also not going to give him grief about not doing it.

Frankly, I was kinda surprised to hear even Rantanen was there so early. He has been notorious about never taking part of optional skates. Doesn't mean he doesn't train (hasn't he had the best physicals every year?), but during the season he also likes his time off when it's not a mandatory drill.

If he isn't there then yes absolutely. Especially for a guy who's supposed to be this future stud Dman for us he should be here early. I dont think my position on Byram needs to be hashed our any further quite frankly.

But, Byram also didn't have a couple questionable events take place this summer that caused a media stir whether warranted or not. Nichushkin did and now he's doing nothing to improve that situation.

Nah, the Avs send their stud Dmen to Vegas to answer stupid questions.

Jokes aside, good to hear he's in Vegas. I was getting a tad worried myself. Like I said earlier he's usually one of the first guys back in town, he must have been waiting for this. The kid probably drew the short straw.
