Sure but the single biggest factor right now is Wolf.

They've dealt with the callups & injury all year and were still able to win. These last 2 games they totally outshot SD and lost bad to a bad team.
Dansk has had some good stretches, particulary earlier in the season. But he's getting lit up right now.
Let's not pretend Wolf has been great recently either. He's only been .500 himself in his last 6 games and has had a few poorer starts on that stretch. Not Dansk bad, but still bad for him.

Don't know if I agree that he's been bad. Probably not at the level he'd want, but that's a pretty high bar.

In the stretch you mention he had a couple very good games, and a couple not so good. One game he came in relief for Dansk.

My point was that he is clearly the straw that stirs the drink, the MVP of this team. If he is not there for playoffs this team is likely out quick.

Hopefully he's in net with the Wranglers at least one of the B2B Tue/Wed vs the Moose

The amount of things you fabricate, you should start writing fiction novels
Usually your jabs are annoying, but ngl this was funny hehe.

Agreed. Just see how Dansk plays vs Wolf, it's night and day. The former was absolutely awful this past weekend.

A few things worthy of an update: Wranglers get that much needed win, 4-2 vs the Moose. Connor Murphy got his 1st start, stopping 32 of 34. Pretty good.
Captain Sutter's 1st game back in months, scores 2 goals. I was thinking for awhile he should just hang em up, but he's an important part still as long as he can stay healthy.
Hunt was also back after missing the last 15 games.
Coronato 1g+2a

They play again tonight. Wolf or Dansk for the start?

Getting your top checking center and a top line player back is huge for the team.

Dansk will start tonight, Wolf is still with the Flames.

Jonathan Aspirot is climbing the D ranks. After getting 5 points in the past 4 games, he's already set career high in points. He's getting a ton of minutes right now, plays PP & PK.
I'm not sure if he's only got an AHL contract, but hopefully we can get him signed again for next year.

Yep AHL only.

I like Aspirot, but I don't think he will be back next year. With Poirier, Kuznetsov and Solovyov all likely to return on the left side and the potential addition of Jurmo (I know Canucks fans think he's nothing, but I feel like he wouldn't have been included if we were willing to give him a chance). And on the right side, we're possibly adding Brzustewicz and Boltmann to Lyle.

I feel like if we have those 7 defensemen, that any signings will be Gilbert/DeSimone-esque, or ECHL/AHL deals and I think Aspirot has earned a shot at an NHL depth deal somewhere.

I think its a safe bet that 1 of Solo (likely), Poirier or Kuz are with the Flames fulltime next year.
Ideally I'd like to see Aspirot & Lyle be the stable vets, and Brewski/Boltman/Jurmo anywhere from good AHL rookie to ECHL
Those would be my 7

I'd rather bring in an older guy than Aspirot, maybe someone to be captain next year. I think Dylan McIlrath is a guy that could be very useful as he's a big defensive guy, he knows the pressures of being a top prospect, and he's learned from being the one guy from the 2004 first round that wasn't good enough to make it

I'd be down for Dylan, as I'm always looking for size & toughness. Plus he could be a rare call up/popcorn eater when needed.
Don't know how much mileage he has left though.

I do think another depth vet D will be coming in a trade yet

Sounds like Grush is in the lineup tonight.

I guess Mark Duarte was a teammate of Grush's in Hamilton. He was on Russia's U18 team with Kuz as well.

Poolman & Kuznetsov are the starting defense pair tonight

I would guess Grush will probably be paired with Pysyk or Aspirot, unless they ease him in and pair him with Riedell.

Grush is w/ Pysyk, and he got his first SOG moments into his first shift.

Ciona!!

I think Grushnikov got an apple

Grushnikov didn't get an assist, he made the pass out of the zone to Schwindt, who moved it to Gallant who made a nice pass to Ciona

The injuries on the Wranglers blueline are ridiculous. Poirier, Solovyov and Lyle are out and this is Pysyk's first game in a month.

Ben Jones! 2-0

Kerins with the takeaway and quick pass in the offensive zone

Jones deflects a Kuz shot from the blueline

3-0 Wrangles 10:05 into the 1st

You would not think the Eagles had won 7 in a row and were 9-1 in their last 10 heading into tonight.

Ben Jones has had 2 breakaways in the last couple minutes trying to complete the hatty, but hasn't gotten it done

Colton Poolman has really taken a big step this year IMO. I'd give him a shot on the big club after the deadline to play for a contract next year.
