Haven't heard much about any camp standouts yet...anyone been watching?

Also curious to hear if anyone came back and talked about their offseason training.

As an aside, I love TT....but he seems like as he gets older he's going to need to get more serious about his off season training if he wants to perform at a high level in the league.

We may not re-sign him when the time comes. Same for Pesce. Are they REALLY irreplaceable? Im not so sure. I would not be surprised if we continue with them business as usual if they really want to get paid. Now maybe turbo takes a team friendly deal to stay here? I could see anything happening with him, he is an odd dude.

if it doesnt belong here or in the capology thread, just delete it. I cant remember if the capology thread was supposed to be a discussion or just informational thread.

Looking over the cap situation and trying to maximize the cap while going on LTIR:

If I use of the guys we know will be on the roster due to one way contracts and not wanting to lose them on waivers / cant waive them:

Aho, Turbo, Svech, Necas, Kase, Statsny, Staal, Martinook, Koko, Fast, Slavin, Burns, Skjei, Pesce, Andersen, Raanta, Gardiner (cant waive) and Patches (cant waive) we have a cap hit of 79,635,250.

The goal is to get as close to 82500000 as possible because we dont gain unused space. We lost 580k last year for reference. If we include Bear and waive Chatfield, Pederson, and Coghlan we would have 664k left, which would lose because that is lower than the league minimum.

Now if we were able to trade Bear and not waive Chatfield and Coghlan (Pederson can go), we would have a cap space of 1,339,750. Which we could give to Cdh making our cap space 0. We could then sign Stepan to a deal and bring up Drury and Jarvis after day 1 to use up some of Gardiner's LTIR money while minimizing the chances of losing Chatfield or Coghlan to waivers . We would then have 1.33 million of unused space for a depth trade later.

Maybe CdH takes a league minimum and Drury is on the roster to start. We end up eating 400k of cap but we save 175k on the LTIR relief.

doubtful. With Trocheck gone, he is going to be relied on more defensively. Staal was tied for 1st in 5v5 play last season with Aho. He was playing a bunch with Trocheck here.

Agreed, I don't see Staal having any more monster seasons. He's going to be a staple of our defensive game, but the scoring replacement is going to be expected from Kotkaniemi and Stastny along with winger additions.
