No. Even Cory L and Chip haven’t put out much either.

Not that our camp coverage has been much anyways.
Training camps notes everywhere on the Athletic for the big teams….

Seriously though I’m hoping the coverage picks up a bit. Today feels like 1994 and I’m waiting for the newspaper to get here tomorrow morning so I can hear what happened at camp today.

TT-Aho-Jarvis is a great 1st half of the regular season line. As things start to tighten up and get more physical, I worry about that line taking a beating.
Aho and Turbo can handle themselves even while not being the biggest guys in NHL. However, Jarvis is going to be ragdolled by best teams' big DMen. I'd swap him with Svech into 1st line and Jarvis into 2nd line.

So I'm guessing saraciv's possible "good news" about a local beat reporter for the Athletic hasn't materialized.

Maybe it will at some point, but I'm not holding my breath.
The Athletic is probably bleeding money just like most journalism sites/companies especially with their big expansion early, so this shouldn't be too surprising.

The Athletic was acquired by the NYT for the eyeballs at the time. They don't give a shit about sports in general, hockey in particular, and detailed team coverage across all sports. I went to the site to pre-cancel, but got a $19.99 yearly subscription offer which was worth it to me for the half-dozen articles a month I'll read.

Thank you for this tip - you just saved me $50 next year!

Also worth noting - it seems like there's a full NYT bundle that includes the newspaper itself, all the crosswords, games, cooking, etc., and The Athletic access is included. This is news to me as I've already been a subscriber to the crossword puzzles. I'm spending way to much paying for these things separately ($5 for just the games as opposed to $6/mo for the first year for all of the above). Will look into bundling today!

If you wait long enough before you resubscribe they will offer 1 year for $20

Got the same offer. Mine doesn't re-up until December so I think I'll see if I want to use it or not. It's a much better price but if they don't have anyone covering the Canes then most of the teams I'm interested in aren't heavily covered by The Athletic and it becomes an online version of The National.

Probably the same offer mechanism. I simply went in and canceled my auto-renewal. They said "are you sure" and I said "yes" then they said "how about if it's $19.99 next time" and I said "hmmm... that works."

I don't really care about the Canes beat but the pricing had just gotten excessive. $19.99 is well worth it for the amount I use it though.
