I wouldn't mind seeing a top line of: Johnson-Perfetti-Wright to start. Johnson and Perfetti seem destined to play on the top line and Wright's release makes him a pretty good candidate to be the trigger man with a couple playmakers.

I got the sense before selection camp that HC envisioned Neighbours in a 2-way role so that I think that practice line of Neighbours-Greig-Sourdif is a good start to a "4th line" that probably plays a lot of important minutes.

That leaves us with McTavish, Bourque, and Guenther as locks to fill out the middle 6.

It feels like other than the top line we have a lot of 2-way guys and could use some gamebreakers. Who of the remaining forwards are the most dynamic offensively (I'm only really familiar with the WHL guys who are left)? Evangelista, Roy, Lapierre possibly?

From the dub guys Stankoven doesn't provide anything that Guenther and Wright can't do better. I can't see a fit for Finley unless Neighbours gets bumped to a more offensive role. Bedard should be strongly considered as an extra in a utility role - if the offence dries up he has the ability to provide against the grain quick strike offence but might not have the chops yet to play full time role.

No huge surprises here. HC already confirmed Johnson is on the team, so looks like 9 forward spots and 2 D spots are spoken for.

I could see Sebrango - Zellweger, O'Rourke - Cormier being in the top 6 and being pairings that would work well too. Although I would think hard about splitting up Power and Guhle, they could also be a really good top pairing. If Canada was rolling that top 6 I would be very happy with the defense

I'm somewhat surprised not to see Lapierre in the presumable locks group
sourdif for me personally

Power Guhle pair could play half the game, though splitting them may be beneficial overall

If im carolina im not letting Jarvis go, that would be amazing though

Mason McTavish has been suspended for 3 games by the OHL. I think that means he'll miss the first 3 games of the world juniors. Not exactly ideal

Yes usually IIHF upholds the suspension. Not sure if pre tournament games will count, I doubt they will. Luckily, Finland is the fourth game so he will be back for that.

Interesting. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of those defence pairings stay that way by the time the actual games come.

Team Canada comfortable with lefty-loaded defence - TSN.ca

This article also provided some good information from the early camp days. Hockey Canada basically says "ehhhh" regarding having right handed defencemen and cites Zellweger, Seeley, Cormier, and Power as right side options. Guhle and Zellweger started as a pair. Perfetti McTavish Guenther started out as a line, presumably the top line. Johnson won't be at the camp but he is on the team regardless.

After reading more about Mackenzie Blackwood's 2016 suspension, I'm assuming McTavish's suspension won't carry over into the WJC since the Petes will have played 3 games by the start of the tournament

I think it says in the tweet that he is eligible to return as of the 17th of December. I take it to mean they are counting his games being served as he is away at camp. I am sure it will get clarified soon enough though.

Flying into Edmonton for the NYE game also debating QF tickets (my last day in town).

does anyone know which QF Canada would be in if they qualify? I’m assuming the later of the games in Edmonton? Just want to be sure before debating tickets.

Will there be a stream tonight? & at what time does the game begin? Cheers.
