Cossa has been ridiculous so far! Gotta feel good about our goaltending.

Hes definitely the most touted guy since Hart at least and he can still play next year. At draft time I would say COssa was obviously higher thought of that Hart as well. Best Canadian goalie prospect in a while

I am not sure that I totally agree with all the gushing about Bedard so far. Yes he scored a goal and yes he looks decent, but all he does is shoot, from everywhere and anywhere. Not the kind of guy that makes others better or that other elite guys want to play with. If you are an elite guy you want to play with someone that will pass the puck back sometimes. I am not surprised with his lack of assists this season if this is how he always plays.

Initial impressions so far.

Bedard is better than most of the guys out here. He should at least get brought as the 13th and see what happens.

Sebrango-Zellwegger pairing could play as Canada's second pairing a solid amount of minutes and I wouldnt be worried at all. They have a lot of chemistry already it seems and compliment each other's playstyle. Could free up Guhle and Power to play together if they decide they want to do that.

The only other D I really noticed was Lambos. He had a solid showing for sure and was fairly active offensively actually.

Of the energy line guys, I dont think anyone really stuck out from the others drastically but I did seem to notice Cullye a few times making good plays out there.
Agree on all of this. And yeah, Bedards ready isn't he? Don't think this is a team that can afford to leave a player with his quick strike capability off, he will be on the final roster.

You can't score if you don't shoot and he should be shooting, he's got one hell of a shot.

Hes got 2 points on 2 goals for the Junior team and looks dangerous. I dont really care if hes not much of a passer, someone has to score goals. I would rather take his shot to have on the PP as the 13th forward than bring someone like Finley or Tverberg along. I also think hes trying to make the team so hes trying really hard to score himself, come tournament games youll see a bit more of a double threat.

But that shot is very hard to leave at home when special teams are so important in a tournament like this. He would be a huge powerplay asset

This is Cossa's last year of eligibility.

I don't mind the shooting but I'm surprised that he is so stationary. Should move more. His shot could be an asset though even assuming he ends up in a limited role.

Totally agree!! I just think other elite talent wants to play with guys that will make plays for them as well. His shot is ridiculous for his age but to truly great he will have to round out the playmaking side of his game. Exceptional players make others around them great as well.

Then you play him in a role similar to how you'd play a guy like Kessel or Puljujarvi or someone like that (ideally). Put him as a line driver with two grinder type players who will do everything in their power to get him the puck so he can rifle it from everywhere. He doesn't need to play with other elite players to be effective. That's a good thing, not a bad thing. He also has arguably the best shot on the team with McTavish. Kid rifles it. No idea how.

I was having trouble differentiating between the defencemen. Too many 5'10" ish LHD who all play a similar style. Maybe that makes it easier to play WITH, but it definitely makes it harder to understand who's who. At least for me during a first viewing without commentary.

Sure, and I think he will do that. Still, even if he is just darting into goal scoring spots and instinctively letting those bullets fly he will be an asset for this team. He's a natural goal scorer, you can see it. They are always valuable

Really sweet pass by Bedard there. Almost a goal and they draw a penalty. He's the most skilled player on the ice. He's on the team.

Great PP there. Missing a couple skilled players, but worked it around well. Bourgault playing the point on it, and takes a one timer with a nice save.

Terribly disjointed play overall. Missing so many skilled guys and it shows.
