I read elsewhere that it was after a questionable hit he threw so he probably felt he had to do it. Certainly looked like he's never done it before.

Rempe with another hit that injures a player this time the Pens Grzelcyk. Penalized 5 reduced to 2 minutes. To be fair this was more of a huge guy hitting a smaller player.
