Guessing that our UFA forward for Wednesday is Mikheyev. Big bodied, good skating, LW that can PK and is looking for a better opportunity in a top 6 somewhere. Only 27 right now (will be 28 around opening night) so not that old and fits with the new identity of the team.

Also going to project Adin Hill and Kevin Labanc to Buffalo along with Burns to one of Dallas/Carolina. Would also not be surprised to see Grier sign Zadorov to "beef up" the defense depending on the dollars and term of a deal like that.

All of that said, could also see things super quiet on Wednesday and leading up to it as well given there is no HC in place.

As much as I like him I sure hope not. Rumour was he’s looking for 5 mil (not that he will get it, but if he does it better not be with us)

If they move Burns not when. I’m trying not to get my hopes up this off-season cause I’ll just be let down like the draft.

They won’t move Greig for Burns.
Then we can take a contract back or retain
Ottawa showed they're no longer sitting back to just build through the draft. Enough with the Smurfs

I'd look more along the lines of a Deslauriers. Not saying I'm in favor, but fits the 'in-your-face' mentality, would be relatively cheap, and doesn't require us to trade out a contract to make happen.

Also, I wouldn't project any decent FA to sign here until we have a coach in place. Guys who are just happy to get another contract are the only ones who'd readily sign here when FA begins.

90% confident Burns let mgmt know that he wouldn't mind being traded... you could tell he was #overit in the interviews at the end of the season... also explains the reported bidding war going on

all that's left is a full on heel turn where he hits Vlasic with a steel chair, prompting the Vlasic face turn

I know the cost would be too great but I can still dream of a reality where we trade for Matthew Tkachuk. He seems like just the type of player Grier would bend over backwards for. Not qualifying Dahlen is a bit baffling. So, we’re seemingly not going to do much in order to create cap space, we’re already seeing cap casualties such as Dahlen. What is the plan? I think Dahlens injury history and inability to play a hard nosed game worked against him here.

Just another small but incomprehensible move. Dahlen will cost virtually nothing to keep and can be gotten rid of easily, even if we can't find a buyer, so instead we lose him for nothing (as appears likely - he could resign, of course, but will he)?

Great call. Dahlen and Sawchenko are worthless. GMMG killing it so far.

Death by a thousand cuts. Not flashy or huge but it all adds up

Dahlen was literally one of our 6 best forwards last year and they're gonna let him walk because a coach they didn't even keep around burnt the bridge

Awful management in every direction

I was still sticking up for Dahlen about half or two-thirds of the way into the season, but the way he finished the year out was pretty pathetic. It wouldn't surprise me if he had no trade value and Grier basically has no sense of how he could possibly be used on the team going forward, especially if you're bringing Eklund into the fold (possibly along with Bordeleau).

Basically how I see it. Dahlen had a pretty good first season but showed himself to be injury prone and a lot of the time was either invisible or just didn’t add “something else” to the lineup.
