Grier making all the right moves. Now just clean house of Will, Burke and Nabokov.
He can't let go of Will. If Nabokov was going to be fired, it would have been when Boughner was let go.

I imagine that they're going to let Burke retire...

It makes complete sense to qualify Gadjovich over Dahlen. Gadjovich does not have arbitration rights and will almost certainly just accept his QO because he has no other options.

But like he sucks. Why not just not qualify either? They have enough guys already. I can easily build a roster without either.

No surprise on them qualifying Gadjovich. The staff clearly had/has a high opinion of his potential.

In fairness to them, in many ways, Gadjovich reminds me of what Ryane Clowe or Barclay Goodrow was at one point. But, both those players got a lot of developmental time that I'm not sure Gadjovich will get.

This reads more like DWjr chose to leave.

Wonder if this is due to a philosophical divide between him and the new FO. The org is clearly moving in the direction of size and physicality over skill and speed. DWjr clearly favored skill and speed, and probably realized at the draft that this was no longer the priority and figured it'd be best to move on. This is just a freaking mess of an organization.

I'm just fearful that we trade more 1st rounders for the sake of getting better now.

Sharks are gonna be a ton of fighters and physical players with no offense, Hertl, Meier, and the shells of Erik Karlsson and Couture at this rate
they might at least be fun to watch as opposed to whatever it is we have right now but there is no real reason to keep him

Gadjovich on the team will only help the chances of a high pick next year. But between the draft and the latest personnel decisions, it does feel pretty ominous for Grier’s tenure.

We're gonna be tough to play against.

We aren't going to be tough to score against, or tough to keep from scoring, but we're going to be tough to play against!
At least it won't be the entire trifecta anymore
I can only hope the peel n teal era of hockey is gone for good

He brings a physical element and willingness to drop the gloves that they need to protect the smurfs like Eklund, Bordeleau and Barabanov. Same reasoning as the Kunin trade which I understand now given the broader context of what Grier wants this team to be. They are going to suck on the ice but at least not get pushed around.

Grier also likely greenlit Boughner's firing, but let's not talk about that

As much as I liked DW, his last 2-3 years were extremely bad. Not entirely on him as he relies on his pro scouts, but the results of his trades/signings have been mostly big L's.

Also, how are the pro scouts/FO staff who recommended Dahlen, Hill, Pederson still around? Hopefully Grier makes some significant FO changes soon.
100% agree with this. I still like the EK65 trade, but everything else was borderline questionable or bad, including the Kane re-signing to 7x7, buying out Jones last season when you've made no other significant changes to the roster,
