He can have a long-term deal if he's good with signing for $3.5-4.0 million a year. Otherwise, he can bridge at $2 .5 million or so. Those are his two options.

The guy who was not even going to be a top line guy in the AHL this year? Okay then Mr. Russian Flag avatar. The prospects have had chances for 3 years and they have almost all sucked. Hence why we're in the spot we're in.
Chances on the top two lines for more than just 10 games? on a team like the Sharks? Im glad you like my avatar enough to cognify it. Bolshoi Spasiba! (Thank you very much)

He never showed anything to be above the third. I mean as much as I’d love for him to be here, you can’t fault the Sharks for his management. He wasn’t great and didn’t deserve a chance on the top 2 lines.

Because his stance is basically. Anything DW did is bad, anything MG did is good. There's no in between with him. That's why it's annoying.
That's not my stance at all. I don't see the point of replacing Boughner with Quinn and I still think buying out Balcers was stupid but at least I can understand both moves from the perspective of a new GM trying to put his stamp on the team. I'm optimistic about the Sharks for the first time in years because Grier seems to have a consistent and logically coherent plan, the complete opposite of DW.

I mean Hodge annoys me as much as anyone but this has literally been his/her stance since MG took over. Not sure why everyone is so confused
Think it is the presentation rather than the content. Comes across abrasive and condescending. I know that I can get down that road from time to time as well, but I think the overall approach of Grier makes a lot of sense and should give comfort that the rumored organizational directive that we have to compete right now was just internet fodder.

And the losers in this city still whine about it even after winning the Cup that same season for the first time in their history.
This is actually the biggest problem I've always had with the Blues fans since that incident. I would understand if Sharks went to win the cup, but just... I get really mad thinking about this

I'm down with the tank, just hoping Grier isn't half assing this. Get rid of Reimer to solidify it

Also please dump simek
They're not tanking is the thing. They're fielding a competitive team (in how they play moreso than place in the standings) with an identity. Nobody (Grier included) has any inkling that this is some great team, but it's the best team in the identity he wants to play with that was able to be mustered with limited cap resources and lack of success (along with no coach). Nobody at the top of the UFA lists was beating down the door to come play for San Jose.

In terms of actual roster, which teams in the west look worse than us? Arizona and Chicago for sure. In our own division, there's maybe Anaheim and Seattle? They have some young high-end pieces that could make them better though.
