Durzi and Roy is like ziegfried and roy - a circus.. Blake better start thinking harder about how to clean this up. Buyout Edler, waive Walker, trade for LHD.. get McNabb or Soucy someone that can hit and add some nasty yet responsible D
Buyout Edler, waive Walker, trade Roy for physical LHD

Move Tobi and Spence back to Kings.

P.S. I am missing last year Maatta now…

Brutal way to lose a game.....bonehead play by Durzi, but the forwards didn't help at all, come back to the zone, don't make your guy try a pass like that.......

Fiala is going to find his ass stapled to the bench if he keeps doing stupid shit like that.....such a shit play, and not needed.....

You can see Arvidsson, Durzi still need conditioning and reps.......other than that, typical Game 1, oh shit jitters game.....

Do we trade everyone now, or are we just like Tampa now? Not sure which way to go

The only thing I can come up with is that Durzi saw Moore at the blueline alone, unguarded and thought he had an easy stretch pass for a last chance shot.

Usually, Durzi is one of my least favorite players on the Kings, but he really was not the worst D on the team last night.

Yes, he made a few very critical mistakes, which played big role in team loss.

But, he wat great on offense, much better than Doughty.

He mostly played good defense and was one of the few players who knew to make good pass out of D zone.

He even was faster comparing to his pay of last year.

Edler was slow out of pace all game long and was huge liability.

Roy was not able to make pass out of D zone and was turnover machine.

Anderson was losing every puck battle he was involved in.

Doughty was rusty.

Walker barely played.

Tough game, but that's is Sean Durzi's game in a nutshell at least going back to Ontario. Dumpster fire in his own end, really good in the offensive zone. He's just as likely to have a 3pt game as he is to be a -3.

Personally I like what he brings so long as he plays limited minutes. Much rather get rid of Roy or Walker.
get rid of Roy and Walker.

It's one game but that defence was comical.

Roy was the biggest disappointment of the night for me. He was wearing a gold shirt last night. Nice tape to tape passes to the opposition in our zone.
Edler is done and should be the #7D man for moral support but we have no choice but to play him.
Durzi needs reduced 5-5 minutes and get overloaded on PP time. Needs to get back to the right side and not over complicate a play in the D zone.
Walker\Doughty need some more games to get back up to speed. The both looked like Edler out there.

When things settle down, I would like to see:

Walker Doughty
Andersson Roy
Edler Durzi\Clarke

This is what happens to NHL teams when they are unable to build multi goal leads. You’re left trying to decide the one player to blame because you put yourself in the position where one play can f*** you.

So exactly what Vegas did in the game.

sometimes there are too many options. With all the manhours lost by the d core last year guys pretty much knew they were set at position. That can impact play and confidence.

When you have buffet of D men some of these guys might squeeze their sticks too tight.

Kings need to settle on 6 sooner than later and stick with it. They won't mind you, but they should.

What? Many games are won by just one goal, its very important to know how to protect lead. At least if you want to win championships, finals are often solely protecting and playing defence.

The Kings lost the game in the second period. They woke up for the third and manage to hang in there but they should have buried Vegas in the second like a dead hooker

Nope, Vegas didn't build a 3+ goal lead because Quick stood on his head. The Kings will not be successful fending off 50+ shots on goal and 10 barely missed the corner shots a night to keep it close.

Defense wasn't moving their feet and and the Kings were manhandled physically all night. Once Vegas was in the Kings zone all I could hear in my head was Yackety Sax playing while they desperately tried to get possession and clear. And when they did the forwards flew the zone as if somebody yelled FIRE!

The game was close because of Quick, but overall it didn't pass the eye test. Vegas looked bigger, faster, more talented and was clearly a much better team last night.

Having watched the Vegas game last night a several things stand out. Roy is not a top 4 D-man, Edler has gotten even slower and Kopi doesn't have much chemistry with Fiala. Whereas Kempe does and Danault didn't look great but neither did Arvidsson. Seems to me Viktor is still injured. Another thing to gripe about is that Blake had his hitting machine in the Back-end and gave him away instead of exposing 2010 1st rounder Derek Forbert. Oh well.LA's 3rd line looked pretty good if not great at times. Its obvious Iafallo doesn't work well with the young dynamic duo, Batman(Byfield) and Robin(Vilardi). Now how to fix the Defense well here's an easy solution, let the kids (Bjornfot,Clarke and Spence)play. The only D that played pretty well was Durzi. He looked like a young Doughty. Wish Doughty would look like a young Doughty. And Kopi a young Kopi. Quick does look pretty good and should be signed. I guess Blake is going to let things play out on the veteran front before deciding on moving on from them and bringing the kids up en masse. That's my bitch for the night/day

I was on desktop sharing session w/a co-worker and I had to show him the last minute because I was explaining how idiotic that whole sequence was. It's even worse watching it again. Vegas was basically just sitting back allowing this game to go to OT. Zero pressure on the puck. Danault circles back to give Durzi an option and so does Arvidsson, Durzi ignores both and gets possessed by Brett Favre and attempts the almost 3 line pass. It gets picked. Danault comes back and picks up Howden and is in position to tie him up, but Durzi decides that he needs a double team instead of marking Stone. That leaves Roy, who was dogshit all game having to choose between Stephenson and Stone and he ultimately doesn't commit to either and bang it's a goal.

So, in response to the post that said this is what happens when NHL teams can't built a multiple goal lead, Vegas in fact did not build a multiple goal lead, and were one play away from losing a game they got 50 shots in.

Just a guess, but I don't think the Kings will give up 50 shots per game this year.

I see where the defense is going to be Clarke,Anderson,Bjornfot,Spence,Durzi,Grans and a masher, basher. Anyone see Kirsanov play

More of this and there be some changing of name plates

It's truly one of the worst singular sequences of events I've seen by one player. Like, there are worse moments of a player overcommitting, or losing a guy. But a collection of decisions and actions amid similar circumstances? Can't think of any.

Well, sometimes you win them and sometimes you lose them. Usually it’s going to split 50/50 for middle of the pack type teams.

Last year the Kings were great in 1 goal games decided in regulation and Vegas was not. Had both teams gained the expected points in these types of games the Kings would have missed the playoffs. I know it’s more “fancy stats” stuff, but it was one area where the Kings were going to likely see a big regression and would have to make up for it in other areas.

His point is valid, it’s not realistic to expect to get 66% of the total points in 1 goal games in regulation and the easiest way to fix that is to build multiple goal leads, and for the Kings the easiest way to get that is to play better in the 2nd period. Which they didn’t do last season, and are off to a poor start this season.

Hey now. It was a bad idea but it's not like he bilked millions from a welfare program or anything. ;)

And yeah I thought he was just going to run out the clock but nope. Surprise! joke was on us. Thanks Sean!
