That was on Todd. Durzi is going to try & make a play, not sit on his ass with a minute left. If Todd wants to play for his extra point with that much time left put anyone of the other loser D out there that would just sit on the puck.

That I agree with. Tweedledee and Tweedledumb should not have been out there to close regulation.

Yeah blame Durzi.
Iafallo going full Happy Gilmore instead of holding the puck deep on a change after the pk.

Roy, handing the puck over multiple times on one shift until a penalty was called after having time & complete control.

Doughty putting breakout passes in skates
Fiala dumb penalty

Walker looks like a zombie out there.

Durzi's mistake was thinking his teammates would actually try & do something in the last minute of the game instead of stand around looking at the puck.
Yeah Durzi made a pass, and on recovery he had his side while Roy just stood there while the guy is in front of him and let him take the lane and pick a corner. Roy is just garbage.

As frustrating as that game was, first game or two always has that rough preseason feel, even last year just Vegas looked like a peewee team to open.

I'll be more concerned if this continues through the Detroit game. Still was one more boneheaded play away from OT despite Vegas looking great most the game and Kings not so much

The only thing I can come up with is that Durzi saw Moore at the blueline alone, unguarded and thought he had an easy stretch pass for a last chance shot.

Only saw the second half of the game but boy did Roy look bad on the turnovers. It wasn't even the fact that he did it, it's that they were basically right on the Vegas players stick.

Obviously that play by Durzi was absolutely terrible. There's just no other way to put it. I can't even believe it happened to be honest. It's just such an absurd sequence.

Kopitar looked good in the neutral zone but, outside of the goal and the nice play he made on that one, was pretty mediocre. Fiala and him didn't look particularly dynamic but that might take some time.

Villardi looked great. It will be interesting to see if he or Byfield takes ownership of that line.

I have hope that this is for real because it's not just the confidence It's his improved skating ability has allowed him to be better on the puck and getting to the puck.
One thing I noticed about GV last two years was a dour look on his face - like he wasnt really into it..Right away this preseason he was smiling getting enthused about things. Not sure what changd but maybe something off the ice or he got some meds that helped. If he really steps out and puts up some numbers - and makes them have 3 scoring lines - will be huge.

I dont understand playing tweeners over blue chip and good prospects. Walker and Roy are good but not part of the long term outlook like Clarke, Bjornfot, and Spence. Edler can barely skate and you want to send Bjornfot back to the AHL for that type of performance?
Love Danault Fiala and Arvidsson but still am not sure it was smart to continue building around Kopitar and Doughty. Most would have shipped out Vilardi 10 times over already and hes looking really good. The kids need to play and take ownership of the team but its hard for a guy like Kaliyev who scores goals but gets treated like a 2nd class citizen.

Clarke makes Durzi obsolete - Durzi needs to be moved if you plan on keeping Clarke this year

Could be the back is finally at the point where meds are not needed or at least they are not as strong. Back pain can take several years to improve

I don’t care if Durzi has a gun to his head. You don’t try a two line f***ing pass with a minute left in a tied game. This is pee wee hockey decision making.

Eichel is going to be a big problem for the division this year.
We have Eichel and McJesus in the same f**ken division yikes.

Game one, deep breaths. Clarke should have been in there though. You don’t sit your top rookie that just made the team on opening night.
Probably TM not wanting to scratch Walker after coming back from injury - but I agree... Walker doesnt have a future here - why bother.

I think all the penalties ate into Kaliyevs ice time a bit tonight. Will see what happens Thursday. Hope he gets more than 11 shifts

It was nice to see Vilardi score the first goal. The kid has a great shot.

He and Byfield need to get more ice time. I would cut Danaut and Moore's ice time and give it to Byfield and Vilardi.

That line change by Anderson on Vegas' first goal was not good.

Tough game, but that's is Sean Durzi's game in a nutshell at least going back to Ontario. Dumpster fire in his own end, really good in the offensive zone. He's just as likely to have a 3pt game as he is to be a -3.

Personally I like what he brings so long as he plays limited minutes. Much rather get rid of Roy or Walker.

wtf is going on with the NHL? They're missing half the videos for goals scored. Sportsnet just cut off the highlight halfway through the third.

Durzi only got into one preseason game, he is rusty, playing out of position, and pretty clearly tried to hero it up at the end.

Rough night for all the defensemen, forwards had a lot of jump and were getting up ice ahead of the defense. Left big gaps, and a lot of loose puck control up ice let Vegas exploit that space time and again. Poor passes, bad touches, lousy spacing. Good news is that a lot of this can be chalked up to opening night and once things settle into the mundane, shouldn't really be a problem.

I hope the team learned a valuable lesson from this game. They wanted to produce more offense which they did, but sacrificed too much team defense that led to giving up 51 shots and numerous turnovers in their own end.

The positives. Kopitar played less than 19min. Walker didn't play much. The Kings were outshot by 20, and were tied late with a chance to win. Usually it's the other way around.

Are you Durzi's agent?

He did what he does a 100x over. One dimensional player

Last minute? Ya, I'm sure everyone else on the team was expecting a safe play, make a clear pass

If Durzi didn't have an MO, this post would be fine. However, he has this type of stoopid labelleed all over him. No excuses....he tossed up a muffin wich cost them the game. On him

The issue with Durzi, beyond the bone headed errors is that it significantly affects the tone of the game and helps the opposition build momentum. The mistakes carry over an have an indirect impact on the next shift even when he’s not on the ice. Obviously others made bad plays but tonight Durzi excelled at it.

Yes he made a great play on Kempes goal but if he’s making errors that directly cause goals against and helps build pressure against us it doesn’t count for anything. Hes not the only D man that can make that play, there’s a kid in the press box that has a little bit of offensive talent.

It’s one game, so let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water but with Clarke in the press box and 2 NHL calibre defensive players in Ontario all of these guys need to be on a very short leash. It needs to improve quickly.

Vilardi and Byfield showed that they are ready to take a step. Pleased for both, but again it’s one game so they need to keep going.
