But only 36.6%!!!

63.4% think he isn't the worst contract. HOWWWWWW????????????????????????
To play devils advocate:

One, won’t ever play a game for us again.

One, may never play a game for us again at anywhere near the level that earned him that contract.

One, is being healthy scratched. In a totally screwed up world, I think Hayes could be argued to have the best best value to contract. He is almost point per game…

It’s a mess of a poll. It’s like choosing which sort of infectious diarrhea you’d like.

Ellis = zero impact

Couturier = possibly lessened but still positive impact

Hayes = sometimes neutral, usually negative impact

Risto = always massively negative impact, bad at literally everything

The jury's still out on whether or not Couts will ever have a positive impact for the Flyers again, but the Risto contract is the worst in Flyers' history, not just out of those four options.
I'd say Bryz both because of goalie volatility and because he was terrible and they were forced to play him because of the contract (and trade away Bob as a result). Little easier to hide a bad defenseman than a bad goalie. That contract would have ended in 2020 if not for the compliance buyout.

Of course they didn't have to move heaven and earth to fit Bryz in, but if we're just talking contracts...

It's a hard call, but Risto was so flagrantly bad that signing him would be like if they signed Bryzgalov to that contract with his insanity and brokenness being on full display beforehand

The Flyers also bid against themselves for Bryz because of playoff small sample size.

If Risto had been signed as a free agent, I may have looked at it a bit differently, but they watched him for almost a full season putting up objectively league worst numbers and still decided to sign him for five f***ing years.

I don't want to be on Risto's side ever but they gave a 31 year old goalie a 9 year contract at almost 10% of the cap!

Bryz was a brutal contract, there's no denying that. Risto is arguably the worst defenseman in the NHL and the Flyers gave him a five year deal after witnessing his futility.

I will never forgive them for that.

I'd rather have seen the Bryz contract through the compliance buyout than watch this asshole for 5 more years. I know I'm probably in the minority here.

Amac with the snow angel was funny. Fisto with nothing is boring and sad
I think MacDonald knew his limitations and was just in over his head as a top pairing D.
Ristolainen plays like he thinks he's Pronger. It's unfathomable how Fletcher thought it was a good idea to sign him after watching play for the Flyers. I guess he just checked the big body RHD boxes.

I feel like Frost should have more than 6G 6A in 32 games. I also hate the fact that he had 4PTS in one game.

Praying for like 10 pts in his next 15

Fletch went on record saying he had wanted Risto for years.

So he saw the Sabres Rusto....and loved what he saw....ignoring all analytics. He got his man....and was not gonna let him go.

Torts has already fixed him....so I read. You see his stats the last 10 games?

And your proof is signing with a bad team. Players who have a choice and sign here though, for some reason they do care about winning? How can that be?

Your reasoning is drunk at best. Clear as day double standard. Why not just admit you have an irrational dislike of Giroux instead of tying yourself in knots trying to justify it?
Do not dislike Giroux in any way whatsoever. Tying myself in knots. Sure. Seems pretty simple. Winning isnt one of his top priorities. Why does that bother you?

Anyone who signs with the Flyers, winning is down on their priority list.

yeah but that Caps game and we still don’t really know what went on with that signing. Fletcher was a million dollars away and then suddenly he wasn’t.

*fart noise*

York is the same player now that he was months ago and last season.
York did not have a good camp and preseason. What he did in his prior small 30 game sample was under a previous coaching staff. He didn't play or do what the current staff wanted. Sent him down. Doesn't seem to have effected him in any negative way. Seems to have been a positive.

Whether he should have been learning at the NHL level is clearly a conversation to have, though for people who want a higher draft pick isn't it better that York was sent down?

Still find it funny they have him playing the right side despite York himself saying he rather not play that side.

Yes, talking about the player constantly in the media with conflicting messages through the organization isn't being singled out. Sure, Jan.

Your silence on the matter of what changed is deafening.
What conflicting messages? Wasn't that just cement head Lappy giving his own opinion on they want from York? Or something to that effect.
