Fletcher, like Hextall, will be history soon. The handwriting is on the wall, Comcast has to pivot to a rebuild just to market the team, and that means Fletcher has to be jettisoned.
Hextall did a good job trading for picks (basically Coburn/Kimmo), but mediocre job using those top picks, drafted better in the later rounds, but is that him or the scoutss

Fletcher did what he was told to do, didn't execute the strategy well, but it was the strategy (win now without enough talent) that was the fundamental problem.
Both overpaid for offense first forwards (JVR and Hayes), Hextall overpaid Jake , Fletcher overpaid Provorov and TDA.
[Farabee, TK and Sanheim are fine contracts, Couts was just bad luck]

It takes a village of idiots to sink a franchise.

I love this strategy of yours.

Hextall did some wrong things, Fletcher did some (more) wrong things - so who cares and they're equal I guess.

No, Fletcher is much worse than Hextall. He's a net-negative and it's not even close who is total garbage at their job.

There is something to the idea that most of Hextall's best moves were the low difficulty type. Oddly enough, so were some of his worst due to how those players were handled after they arrived.

Unfortunately as we look around the NHL, there are still plenty of teams that can't clear the low difficulty bars. Including this one.

I will start defending chuck the minute he's fired. don't worry friend.

Like Ghost but cheaper!
I've got bad news for you. He's not cheaper.

Ghost, Hagg (@ a combined 15.1M owed), a 1st, 3 2nds, a 3rd, a 4th, & a 7th for Ristolainen & DeAngelo (@ a combined 40.4M owed) & a 7th is one of the all time nightmare sequences for asset management in the history of professional sports.

MINOR MOVES DO NOT ADD UP TO BIG NUMBERS. IT IS NOT THE PROBLEM

Stating the obvious: The Flyers are severely lacking in talent. The have a roster filled with third and fourth line forwards, third pair defensemen, press box and minor league players with one maybe two second line forwards, a pair of second pair defensemen and a top half of the league number 1 goalie backed up by a 30-32 goalie. They also have a mid to low end number one center when healthy who is on IR and may never be able to be what he once was. And forget about Ellis.

Adding to this, they have a bunch of prospects who project to more of the same with the possible exception of Cutter Gauthier and Tyson Foerster.

Carter Hart isa very good goalie. One that a team can win a cup with.

Sanheim and Provorov are really second pair guys, good solid second pair defenseman, number 3s who paly the same position, LD.

TK is a second line winger on most teams

Farabee potentially can be a second line player.

Hayes is a low-end number 2 center, high-end number 3.

Atkinson when healthy was a second line player. Who knows if he can be that going forward.

Foerster probably tops out as a second liner and Gauthier probably tops out as a good second line center, first line left wing.

Laughton, Cates, Tippett, Allison are a solid third fourth liners.

I have always been a fan of Morgan Frost. At this point, I don’t know what he is. Can he be a third line center? I don’t see the bite/compete in his game I thought he had as a junior.

Laczynski and Sedlak, are fourth liners.

JVR needs to be traded at the TDL. He presently is a third liner PP specialist.

TDA is a third pair PP specialist, who can be a number 4 with a strong partner. As is York.

Zamula is a third pair guy with upside of number 4.

MacEwan and Deslauriers are what they are, good team guys, energy players, physical players who are willing scrappers for their teammates. Good to have around in a press box/ 12/13 forwards.

Braun is a good vet 6/7 defenseman.

Risto is a highly overpaid third pair guy.

Seeler is a 7 at best, maybe a AAAA minor leaguer.

Willman is a minor leaguer.

Pretty obvious I know, but I wanted to get it off my chest. It is going to be a long time before the Flyers are competitive again. Three more years of top 5-6 draft picks, with at least one 1 or 2 will go along ways towards making the team good again.

From Weiss to delo Dave brown director of pro scouting has been the common denominator. He's been the guy behind all of the orgs worst moves since he came in and listening to him has gotten two guys fired. It's not Fletcher vs hextall vs Clarke it's the guy who's job it is to find talent at the pro level.

As Ghost was on the worst offense in the league stat padding his way to 51 points, we were hit with truth bombs about how bad he was actually doing. He only had a +0.7 relxGF% paired with an AHLer. Detriment!

DeAngelo at -6.6% has the 13th worst relxGF% in the NHL, along with the 2nd worst relxGA/60, while primarily paired with Provorov (who, don't worry, isn't far behind!). 44 point pace, ain't it easy? Ghost is +3.5 relxGF%, pacing for 60+, if you're keeping score at home. Silence. You don't have to make up a comparison -- it's a direct one, with an obscene amounts of assets going out to get worse.

DeAngelo is a supremely skilled player; he's just a depth player on a roster that can hide his warts. Chuck Fletcher, on the 5th worst team facing an inevitable rebuild, chose to trade another high 2nd (his 4th now!) and a 3rd for a depth player over just playing York and letting it ride. But Fletcher outright said, upon the trade, DeAngelo would be a top pair player, so yet another whiff there. If Fletcher was a gambler in a Vegas casino, he'd have his fingers shattered with a hammer.
This is brilliant thank you

Brown is one of Clarke's precious little pets
Former flyers scout and assistant coach Kevin McCarthy is a known commodity within the organization so he'd fit on the crony chart fine and has shown himself to be much more forward thinking. That's without even looking outside of the former flyers checklist. It's disgusting that someone has been aloud to be so incompetent for so long. It's not a big enough name to appease casual fans but if I were Fletcher he's the first head to roll
