Flyers did before they lost Couts, Hayes, Laczynski/Brassard, Laughton for a stretch, Allison, etc.
They thought they had this lineup to start the season:
G - Couts - TK
JVR - Hayes - Atkinson
Farabee - Laughton - Allison
Lindblom - Brassard/Frost - NAK
Thompson, Brown

By Feb 1, they had this group of forwards:
JVR - G - TK
Lindblom - Laughton - Atkinson
Willman - Frost - Mayhew
Ratcliffe - Bunnaman - MacEwen

April 2:
JVR - Farabee - TK
Lindblom - Hayes - Atkinson
N Cates - Frost - Tippett
Thompson - Brown - MacEwen
My point stands, it’s preposterous.

Was at the driving range for my sons golf lessons when we ran into Wade.... saw him couple weeks back but I thought it couldn't be him as he's here in Ontario.... Just a gem of a kid.... went out of his way to to take the time to take a picture with my son who was still taking his lessons (just so happened to be wearing his Flyer cap!). He's training down here with some other players and will be ready to go for camp (he's healed from the injury). Most of you know i'm one of his big supporters on here so this was a pleasant surprise!! Still doesn't have his contract done up but is looking forward to earning his way on to the team... We talked for a good 15 minutes or more great guy and lets just hope he can stay healthy because this team needs more players like him on it!!!!!! He's a big Sandstrom fan says he's underrated and the players know how good he is.....that was one of the more interesting comments.....i'm running late I may post more later ....Torts is going to love him imo

Ellis has no intention of playing for the Flyers
How many games would Ellis have to play for the Flyers in 22-23 to get you to delete your account?

He also added Strum and Cogliano for the playoffs, Bednar benched Newhook to start the playoffs and benched NAK even with Burakovsky injured to end the playoffs.

Now if the Flyers traded Rubtsov and ??? for Strum, we'd have pages about adding a JAG from Minnesota.
If the Flyers added Cogliano for a 5th rd pick, we'd have pages about how they added a washed up JAG.

You think NAK would have looked any better than he did in 2020-21 with Bunnaman and Brown as his centers, and Yandle-Seeler as his primary D-pairing? Just look at his Colorado metrics with and without Makar - Makar makes that big of a difference, even for scrubs.

I don't miss NAK anymore than I'll miss MacEwen this season. Scrubs is scrubs.
It’s Sturm.

Sturm.

Not Strum.

You didn’t need to crank out the fan fiction so fast that you misspell the names of the Stanley Cup Champion’s forwards.

Mea Culpa. I misspelled the name of a scrub.

I got nothing against scrubs, but they're basically fungible.
I mean hasn't that been the complaint around here for a decade, we need to add players with skill to the bottom six?

Of course, if we had two top lines, and 3 top puck moving D-men, people probably won't care about who is on the 4th line. :D
Did anyone suffer angst over Betts, Carcillo and Shelley on the 2010-11 Flyers?

what was that sports radio talk host drivel that I used to hear (particularly Glen "I'm smarter than you" Macnow)??

"The answer always lies in the middle."

No, I don't agree at all. Many times someone is right and the other person is wrong.

It used to annoy the hell out of me when I heard these buffoons say that.

"Yea, Glen. I know the answer is always in the middle." STFU

One way to add skill to the bottom 6 is to have NHL level players on it like NAK and Sturm who can hit 20 points in a season. Not AHL level/should be retired players like MacEwen and Thompson.

And yes, the Shelley contract was a disaster.
Or have better players like Allison (stay healthy), Laughton, Frost, Tippett, N Cates, Lindblom.

The next group have more questions:

I'm still agnostic on Laczynski, think he has skills but skating? But he can play center, a big plus on a thin group.
Brink can score, but is he NHL ready or does he need time?
Ratcliffe has size, straight line speed, good hands near the net but is still unpolished and a bit awkward.
Hodgson can score, but can he play defense? Sandin can score but can he stay healthy?
Foerster, Desnoyers, Wisdom, Lycksell have upside but maybe not until 2023-24.

I have no problem with banishing Brown, Willman, J Cates to LHV.
Mayhew, Thompson, Bunnaman are gone, MacEwen is still unsigned.
This group played 244 games last season between them.

Every team has prospects like Attard, Zamula, Cates, Lacyzinski, Allison etc.. they are dime a dozen players. Outside of York, Foerster is the only prospect with a chance (50/50 at best) to be significantly better than average.

You really need to either stop trolling or stop deluding yourself.
Cates looks like a solid 4th liner who could fill in on the 3rd line without being out of place. Small sample but 9 pts in 16 gp is solid production. Laczynski and Allison could also be solid depth producing players if they ever stay healthy.

It's your browns, macewans, willmans, Hodgsons who are the dime a dozen players.

Edit: if you were talking Jackson Cates, then yea dime a dozen player
Edit 2: I didn't include Nate Thompson cause dude is no longer a NHL caliber player. @NateThompson44

4th liners who can step up to a 3rd line on weaker teams are hardly valuable commodities. Cates looked fine in a small sample on a bad team playing out the string with no pressure on them. Over the last few decades, Ive seen countless guys look good for a small sample size, only to see their play drop off over time as their flaws are exposed.

Cates might be a fine 3rd line player, but no one can make the claim that he’s one right now. Now counting on Allison is just foolish at this point. The kid has not been able to get through a season without injury since he was a teenager. Lacyzinski might also one day rise to the level of 3rd line player, but 4th line is much more likely.

When it comes to the Flyers forward prospects only Foerster and Brink seem to have any chance of being top 6 guys and neither of those are likely to be 1st line players. This organization needs to start finding guys like Simon Gagne, Justin Williams, Jeff Carter and Mike Richards with their first round picks. The group of forward prospects in this organization is very thin.

I can't tell if you're wildly underrating the Avs or wildly overrating the shit roster Fletcher has made. Probably both

I'm not going anywhere EVER now that I know you want me to delete my account because my hyperbolic takes are too aggravating for your uptight self-serious ass.

Go ahead and block me if it'll make your experience here more palatable.

Actually, since you can seemingly only tolerate your own posts, why don't you just block everyone?
